Let me preface this by saying we dont go to "nice" restaurants because of budgetiary restraints, so this was a treat! We went to Churrascos, a South American restaurant in Houston.

We split an appetizer. I wanted to make sure you knew what was in it, so I copied this from menus.com

MARINEROS
herbed yuca polenta cake, surrounded by corn smoked blue crab fingers in a chile lemon butter sauce. This literally melted in our mouths!

DH HAD to have a steak, but to cut down on expenses I had an INCREDIBLE soup...trust me, I didnt feel deprived!

CHUPE DE CAMARONES
fresh lobster bisque with aji, chayote, corn, shrimps and crab fingers I didnt have much room for this after the app, but let me tell you, it was fabulous, and I will enjoy it tonight!

Basically I overloaded on seafood. Then, of course, we HAD to share a piece of Tres Leches cake, which they are famous for!

Kim,
A few years ago we hosted a couple of girls from Brazil for a summer (it is an exchange program through the YMCA) and Churascos was one of their favorite restaurants! A little piece of home, they said.

Sounds wonderful! I've never been to Houston, but it looks like I'll know where to eat when I get there!

We ate at a new restaurant called Hibachi (in Jenkintown, PA) last night. What fun! They cooked right at the table and the kids enjoyed the show. The food was also delicious (Japanese). Plus, we had a discount coupon! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

Kim,

The lobster bisque sounds yummy! I have recently (last night) acquired the taste of Chayote. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
