I'm not a big fan of pumpkin and i've never had pumpkin soup but I'm considering making this for guests. I did a search but didn't find anything. Has anyone made it yet??

My sister made it (she never visits the boards) and said is was very tasty even though she used "whiskey" instead of bourbon. I think she was hitting the bottle before she made it!

I did a little preThanksgiving test run of this soup and loved it. It was nice and light for a cream soup -- tasty but wouldn't fill anyone up pre-dinner. I would have liked the onions a little better pureed, but I think the problem was that I used one of those hand-held immersion blender things.

Unfortunately my husband didn't like it n(but he just doesn't like pumpkin soup). In deference to him I won't be making it on Turkey Day, which is a shame because it was very easy.

Thanks, you two. I think I'm going to go ahead and make this as a light Thanksgiving Day lunch. We'll have appetizers, too, so if people don't like the soup they won't starve.

I made this last night, and liked it. I blended it in my blender, so it definitely was pureed enough for me. The funny thing to me is the flour - I'm guessing it's meant to thicken, but it didn't seem to do much for mine. If I made it again, I'd leave it out. As for the flavor, it is fairly sweet, but not in a sugar-y sweet way. The bourbon flavor definitely appears, but in a good way. I definitely give it a thumbs up.

I made the spiked pumpkin soup today and my husband and I both agree, it won't be on our menu again. We are pretty adventuresome when it comes to trying new things, but we thought this recipe was just flat. Not enough flavor. I am adding some Penzey's pumpkin pie spice to the leftovers and I think that will enhance the flavor. Maybe after it sits in the fridge overnite, it will be better tomorrow..............????
