What does all this mean?!?
CD-RW/DVD-ROM
Dual layer
Combo drive
Superdrive
16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability

I've done a search on this forum, checked out cnet.com, dell.com, pcworld.com, etc and can't seem to find an explaination!

We're computer shopping and I want to know what type of drive to get. We want to burn CDs and we also have a digital camcorder so we want to make home DVDs as well. I've never owned a computer w/ burning capabilites so I don't know what we need.

TIA!

I'm not an expert but we do have a computer with a DVD burner. Most computers today will burn CD's - it's become standard, so that probably won't be an issue. If it says DVD-ROM, then it's not a burner but will play DVDs. You need one that says DVD-RW. Now the +/- means the format - some are capable of both, others aren't. This is where my help stops. Good Luck.

BTW - ours only has the one CD/DVD drive. You don't need two to copy or burn.
