OK - I know we've had this topic before - sort-of. Everyone says you're not supposed to thaw, then re-freeze. I've always heard that.
However, all of the chicken & fish you buy in the store has been frozen for shipping & then thawed in the store. I often freeze meats when I get home so I can use it later. I've never had any problems.
Can someone help me here?

I think more than anything it is a matter of the quality of the meat. As long as it is kept cold and there isn't a food safety issue, I think you can refreeze. Refreezing can affect the texture and quality of the meat, though, because freezing and thawing can break the cell membranes and whatnot.

OK. I get it. Thanks for the info - I always thought it was a food safety issue.
