View Full Version : Happy Thanksgiving
I wanted to say Hi to all of you. I am off and on here due to school and work. I am trying to keep somewhat sane with taking 16 credits this semister and working full time. Makes me happy that I have my friends here that have encouarged me and believed in me. I know I say every year to you guys and gals here that I appreciate all of you. I look forward to the joys that you share my thoughts are with those who have lost hope or someone during the year. Sometimes we often forget each other, I for one believe that all of you is at my table this year and we are having a wonderous feast. Sometimes it may sound corny to some, however, it is how i feel for all of you. Even though I have not met anyone in RL (real life) I feel that all of you are in my heart.
This is why I love this time of year, it reminds me that I too miss my parents who have been both deceased between 2 and five years. I hope all of you have a chance to celebrate who and what life is about no matter what brings our way. We have done it and we will continue to do so, cause it is our passion and how we enjoy a smile or a nod. In conclusion I just have one question to ask.
Who says the grace at your table?
when my mom was alive it was my job to do so.

(((Matt))) :)
I lost my Dad in August and I can appreciate your sentiments about missing your parents, especially around the holidays. Happy Thanksgiving to you and good luck with your heavy workload - school and working.
To answer your question: either my Dad or Mom always said "grace" before a holiday meal. This year my mother will shoulder that responsibility alone.

Matt, and everyone else, happy thanksgiving to you too!!
Sorry to hear about your lost ones, hearing stories like yours makes me appreciate even more that I can spend the holiday with my mom and dad, I was away for 2 years and that was really hard, but I'm so grateful they are still there.
We all sort of say a short grace together.
Does anyone have any good thanksgiving toasts or short poems to share that they recite on thanksgiving?? It would be great to have something to share.
In the past couple years I've had us go around and say one thing we are grateful for from the year (it works since there's only 6 adults...). Though my dad was a big scrooge and said he had nothing to be thankful for, which makes me really sad.
Anyways, have a great holiday and lots of good turkey and pie!

Hi Matt and Everyone,
Your post was so touching. It truly makes me take stock in all I have to be thankful for; my mom is 87 and my dad is 89. They are married over 66 years and still hold hands!! My mom always made dinner till it became too much for her so I happily took over years ago. We don't say grace but everyone says something they're thankful for. My sister always says she's thankful that I like to cook big holiday dinners :) I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving!!

Growing up we said a Catholic blessing together; I am no longer a practicing Catholic, so we take turns saying a blessing. I lost my mom two years ago, so I know the feeling of missing someone so integral to our lives. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.

Matt, thanks so much for your touching words. I always enjoy your posts.
For the first time in many years I will be with family this holiday. This side always does the what I'm thankful for and I know this year it is being able to be with all of them.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
