View Full Version : So, what DO you want for Christmas?

(In case your SO is lurking on the what-you-don't-want thread and is now in a fit of panic.)

What I want are things I need, mostly for horse training. A surcingle, driving reins, an endurance bridle, half chaps, fence panels, etc.

I'd also like a new pair of sweats (the nice-ish straight-leg kind.)

And Moxie Java gift cards!

We usually buy stuff for the two of us or the house. I'm not sure we'll have enough $$ left over from DH's car accident and Christmas shopping for others. We'll probably have a nice dinner together and save money for our Cruise in Februrary.

me, Rob, Aggie, a prime rib roast, some wine, christmas lights. (Looks like I'll be getting what I want this year)

We don't do the gift thing for ourselves.

I want to be able to spend the weekend doing nothing but hanging out with my husband and dog. I don't want to see family, his or mine. That is what I want for Christmas.

Since I don't really get gifts other than token items from friends...I give myself a gift each year. My daughter will be with her Dad for Christmas this year, so after joining them for Santa gifts early that morning...I will head out for San Antonio where I will spend 3 nights at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country and indulging myself in their spa!!! Merry Christmas to me!!! :D

Clothes. I also showed Rob two pairs of inexpensive earrings I would like. I have no earrings, but I have rings I wear all the time. I feel naked walking out of the house with bare ears (especially with short hair). :p There's also some things we both need for the house. I know several things he wants.

You go girl!!

I made a suggestion to DH that we go to our local spa and both have a massage then maybe out to dinner. He seemed cool to the idea so I am not sure what we'll do. This is more what I have in mind tho' as far as Christmas gifts between us goes.

I think I already posted my list below, but here it is:

• Wet-Dry Vac
• Large Umbrella
• Cast Iron Skillet
• Safety, smooth edge-type Can Opener (manual)
• Hammer
• Bug Vacuum / Bug Catcher Vac
• CD: Millican by Reckless Kelly

Exciting, no? :)

That I can convince DF that three dogs aren't any more work than two and we adopt Tilly, the utterly lovable shepherd/collie mix we're currently fostering.

And that we finish packing, close on our house, and move without any persons or animals going completely berserk.

Thea, I'm trying to convince my DH four dogs wouldn't be any more work than three.... :D Tilly sounds really cute, do you have any pictures? Our third dog Maggie is a shepherd/ collie mix.

Also just wanted to say congratulations on the new home and your engagement! (I know that must have happened a while ago.)

Kristal, here's a pic of my sweet girl. :) This was obviously taken back in the summer, when things were still green and lush. We think she's mostly Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, but I think she's got some Sheltie in her too. She's small and very dainty, especially compared to our other two who are slobbering giants.

I figure we've reached some kind of maximum threshold for pet hair and food, and that a little more won't even be noticeable to us. I think DF is more worried that if we adopt this dog, I'll find another and another and another...but I know he's smitten with her too. ;)

Thanks for the congratulations, and good luck with on dog #4. :)

Thea, what an adorable girl! Kristal, good luck with #4 ;) I'm tempted to add a dog #2 to the family, but we'll see about that!

It's been a nutty fall, so I'm especially crossing my fingers that my holidays will be restful and that everyone in my immediate entourage (including me ;)) will be happy, healthy, well-fed, and safe.

If I end up with a couple of cookbooks, other books, or pieces of gear, hey, I won't complain, but the main thing I'm hoping for is the paragraph above :)

Alethea, she's beautiful. I would want her too. Hope you get to keep her.

Natasha, I'm with you. I've thought of a few things I might like to get, but not much I need that others could buy me. I would also like to have a nice dinner with my family here on Christmas Eve and for none of the appliances to fail before we can start the replacing. ;)

Thea and Kristal, good luck on #3 & 4!!!

Usually DH and I exchange ornaments. He always picks out really cool ones!

If he sells some art this month, we said we would get me a bike. What a great Christmas gift since I've wanted one for over 5 years. I've been too cheap to buy one :( It would have been great to have one in Chicago, not sure how Houston will like another biker :o

If he doesn't sell anything then we will go out for a nice dinner which is our usual!

Alethea, she's a beauty. Who could resist those pretty eyes! I'd love another pup but my basenji really needs to live in a one-dog home. She's not big on sharing at all, so we'll keep things the way they are. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

As for a Christmas gift, I arranged that today so Sweetheart won't have to worry about it at all. I wanted a Le Creuset grill pan and panini press, so today I went to the outlet store and picked up both ;) . He was ready to order them from Williams Sonoma, but I told him they could be purchased for much less money - I got both pieces today for a grand total of $83 because I had a coupon for 35% off my purchase.

Now I get just what I wanted and he doesn't have to do anything more than wrap them up :D . Merry Christmas to both of us!!!

Ooh, Jasmine Rose, I feel like you... DH was saying he wanted to get me a nice cast iron frying pan and I was referring him to the Le Creuset one I wanted and Knowing he orders EVERYTHING off Amazon was thinking, I could get that MUCH cheaper at the Outlet... but I wouldn't feel right going & buying it myself. Will try to steer him to the outlet but knowing him he's going to pay to save himself the trip.

What I REALLY wanted for Christmas was this little under the shelf unit I saw that is a CD/radio and has a small TV screen so I can have something playing while I'm cooking.

He's about 6'3", cute as a button. ;)

Thinking big, I want a new kitchen, but that is still a bit away. Thinking smaller, just some new clothes. I'm sick of buying stuff for the house - Trudi needs to be taken care of too! :D

Alethea, Tilly is absolutely gorgeous! Her collie/sheltie heritage must be Blue Merle with those beautiful blue eyes & coat coloring! We have three dogs, same amount of vacuuming & dusting as two - just one more food & water dish at dinner, no big deal. (Is this helping? I can say more! :) ) Good luck, hope you get to keep her.
