I go to the Dekalb Farmer's Market once a week, so why do I have to ask?

Any ideas?
Thank you.

I've seen them at Disco Kroger just a couple of weeks ago - near the tomatillos.

I think Susann posted a couple of days ago that Harry's has some lovely ones right now.

I'm not in Atlanta, but sometimes if I'm looking for green tomatoes, I ask a store clerk in the produce section, s/he goes into the mysterious "back room" and returns with lots of green tomatoes for me. I think there are probably some green tomatoes in with their shipments of red, but they don't always put them out for purchase.

I'd say that asking has worked for me about 1/2 the time.

Good luck!

Just as Emily said, the Harry's in Alpharetta had some nice green tomatoes.

I think that all the Atlanta BBer's should get together for a field trip, for shopping! Like to Harry's or the DeKalb Farmer's Market!

What do you think? I think it would be fun! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I think I could follow Emily around in amazement at how she gets it all together.

I'm getting lots better though (practice!)

Oh, thanks! I'm flattered http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif -- although I'm not sure how together I actually am....it's all a front, you see http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

Seriously, I think that's a fun idea! Good one, Dana!

I've actually never been to the farmer's market (and I've lived here 10 years!) I know - It's a sin!
I'd meet you there one day just for the experience & of course to meet everyone.

Okay, awesome!

The next 2 weekends are not good for me. HOWEVER I really want to do it. How do you all feel about a Thurs or Fri evening or.. we can wait.

I went to Whole Foods when they first opened and I was not impressed. Maybe I need to go with a bunch of you foodies. That might make a difference.

So how does everyone feel about Sat the 16th? It's the day before Father's Day, FYI. Which might be a good thing, if you will be cooking!

What about a Thursday or Friday evening like Dana suggested? Would this time work better?

Anytime is potentially fine, we are out that weekend for Father's day.

Any evening is fine with me too; I'll be around this weekend, but not the next or the next (first Cl weekend, then N.C. mountains), so it looks like quite a few of us have weekend clashes. Would it be better for everyone to wait until the next weekend (the 22-24th) or go one evening? And just to keep in mind, Harry's and Whole Foods are mad houses on the weekends, so it might be more relaxing in the evening. Ooh, this'll be fun! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Good point, Emily!

How does next Thursday the 7th sound to everyone?

Okay. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Now that we have that established--where do we want to meet?

I work downtown and live in Dunwoody so, ideally, Whole Foods on Roswell Rd works the best for me. But I get to leave work at 4, so it doesn't really matter.

Anyone have a preference?

I work in Marietta and live in Dunwoody, so the Harry's in Marietta (Cobb?) is closest to my office, but I'm sure that's really inconvenient for y'all.
Whole Foods is really close to where I live, but it's not nearly as fun as the Alpharetta Harry's, which is about 20 minutes from my house. Read: whatever you guys want to do is fine with me. I usually leave at 5:00, but I could easily sneak out by 4:00. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I work downtown & live in Buckhead. I can't really leave until 5 or 5:30. So if there's one closer to me - that might be best, since I'm the one stuck at work. However - if all of the places are near you all - then I'll certainly make the treck. I actually have no idea where any of the places are located.

I live in Dunwoody but, as I have probably said 100 times by now, will be on vacation as of Tuesday. Whatever you guys decide is hunky-dory by me!

This will be fun!!

I would love to take a field trip with you guys. I guess the weekend would be better for everyone. What do you think? Saturday? Sunday?
