MY DD has requested sheets for her bed, she wants Sateen, but I want to make sure that they are soft. I did a search engine for th CL website and couldn't find a thread where this may have been discussed. If there is one, please direct me to it and forgive my redundancy. I googled and came up with some sites, Overprice.com, being one of them.

Has anyone ordered sheets from Overstock, can you tell me which you ordered and were they soft? I usually just go to the store and feel until I find something I like, but that isn't possible. The soonest I can go shopping is the 15th. and I am trying to get everything out of the way today, online, so I don't have to go shopping.

HELP!

I've ordered many sheets from OS, sorry I can't tell you which ones, but I go with high TC, read all the reviews, then buy.

I can highly recommend sheets from Lands End. I have not purchased sateen from them, but the regular, solid 100% cotton sheets are great. I saved my receipt, and when one wore out, they sent me another one for free! They are very soft too. I had some sateen sheets (not from Lands End) that started out soft, but then quickly got pilled! I couldn't stand it.

This is exactly the kind of information that I was looking for.
Thanks to both of you!

I now only buy sheets from Overstock.com those with very high thread count do take a few washings to get really soft. However, I love the fact that the pillow cases aren't itchy. I travel with my own pillow and always make sure I have a high thread count cover on it. I bought DS#3 sheets from overstock.com for him when he went to school and he commented over Thanksgiving that the sheets on his bed at home weren't as soft as those at school...I was shocked that he noticed! :p

I have some Wamsutta 400 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets I got at Homegoods. They're polished cotton and have that "sateen" feel. I love them, and I don't think they could be any softer or slicker unless they were silk.

If she happens to have a Queen or King, I highly highly recommend these 500 TC sheets from Costco. They are super soft (right out of the package, and after repeated washings), and they are much more durable than other high thread-count sheets I've had (our dogs sleep on our bed :o ). WE've had ours for almost a year now and they are still absolutely heavenly to sleep on! Oh - and the best part? They're only $60 for a queen set.

We have the Kirkland (Costco) sheets too. I went to buy extra pillow cases at Bed Bath and Beyond to go with them and paid just about the same amount for 4 standard pillow cases than I did for the entire sheet set at Costco (even with the BBB coupon). We have a King Bed, but I like standard pillows and their King set only comes with 2 king pillow cases.

They changed their sheets to an even higher thread count after we bought ours, and changed the colors available. We want another set (maybe DH will be getting those for Hannukah) because they are so wonderfully soft and hold up to washing well. They fit on our matteress (pillow top) better than any other sheet set we have had in the past 8 years. The king set we bought was under $70.

Definitely buy a set with a thread count of 300 or higher. It's hard to not get something smooth once you get over a 300 tc. It used to be that anything over 220 was going to really bump up the price, but now you can get reasonably priced sheets at 300-500 tc. Keep in mind though that a printed sheet will not be as smooth because of all the ink, and that a jacquard weave will not feel as smooth as a plain weave or satin stripe.
