Because I'm truly bored and because I love my Kitchen Aid mixer, a very scientific study. ;) Which one do you have? What color? Oh, and does it have a name?
I have the 4 1/2 quart Ultra Power KA. In Onyx black. :)

Boy, I feel inadequate! My white 4 1/2 quart doesn't have a name & is rarely used. I use my KA food processor more often.

I have the 4.5 quart Artisan in Crystal Blue. I thought something named Crystal was destined for my kitchen! :)

4 1/2 quart, White. You will have to help me with a name -- do you think I should name "it" Lily, Snow, or Bob? Considering the season, I could call it White Christmas.

I have the 4 1/2 quart in white. It's been getting a workout the last few days with all the cookie dough it has made.:)

6 Quart Pro in Nickel Pearl. I just brought her home last night. I'm thinking of naming her Opal, but I haven't decided yet.

I have a white Artisan. I got mine as a refurb for $125 from Amazon.com. You could get any color refurb as long as it was white. LOL. Since I keep it in the cabinet when not in use white was just fine by me.

Oh, how tempted was I to be bold and go for one of the colored mixers! I was a newlywed living in a rental at the time and didn't want to commit to a color until I had my own kitchen. So...
Mine was a ltd. edition color - White Diamond, I think it's called. Kind of a sparkly snow color. Pretty, but boring. It did come with a promo for a free extra bowl engraved with my name, so in that respect it is very uniquely mine! If I were to buy one today I would go for red without hesitation! Also, I would opt for the traditional tilt-back style rather than the one with the bowl that you raise/lower. I think the tilt-back probably allows for a little more clearance when adding ingredients or stopping for a quick manual stir.
Fun thread!!

MY KA is an oldie, plain white, a 40th b-day splurge gift to moi, approx. 10 years ago. no bells nor whistles, bought when they were starting to become common. cost $280, if i recall correctly. i've rarely ever used it, and after taking up too much counter space, it got relegated to pantry storage. i like the idea of owning it more than the thing itself. it weighs a ton, and i find that my various hand-mixers do the job as well. for bread dough, there's the bread machine, or the robot-coupe. the one recipe it's essential for is IG's lemon loaf cakes.

I have a 4 1/2 qt KA in white that my husband surprised me with after I talked about KA mixers incessantly for months ;). Her name's Sydney. My husband was quickly won over by its capabilities and now uses it more than I do. We love it!

I have an Artisan 5-quart (I think) in pistachio. I got it last year for Christmas, and I adore the color--so retro! It doesn't have a name, though--I guess I should name it since I love it so :) . It resides happily on my counter, so it's always handy for baking.

As in Bristow, right? Because you are such a huge Alias fan. ;) (You know I love you!)
I have a 6qt white at my parent's house, named Caspar (the friendly ghost!). I have a 4.5 qt here that I received from a friend. It's also white, and has no name (it also has no flat beater, which will prove to be a problem tomorrow when I'm supposed to be baking cookies - crap.)

Ahem. I know you're kidding, but BLECH! (It just had to be said ;)) For the record, in case anyone was wondering, it's named Sydney (a) because I like the name and (b) like Sydney, Nova Scotia - companion to our Nova Scotian (and Nova Scotian named) dog. We do follow Canadian themes a fair bit in my house, as you've no doubt noticed... ;)

5-quart KA Accolade here - in Cinnamon. No name (yet), even though I've had it since last Christmas. I love my mixer dearly and I'm not sure how I ever lived without it!

Mary Kate - your mixer is gorgeous! I haven't seen one like that before. Lucky you! :D
I have a dark grey artisan - love it but it has no name - although I don't make mashed potatoes in it anymore due to the fact that for some reason, the metal reacted with the warm potatoes and would make them blue!!!
Has anyone used the attachments for them (sausage grinder, pasta maker, juicer, etc)????
18 year old KSM90 in red. I don't recall if it had a "name" designation back then or not (like "Ultra Power"). I just call it "the mixer".

Hi NMG.
I have the sausage grinder and casing stuffer attachments and use the grinder a lot! I used to make sausage in the food processor, but this works so much better. I tried stuffing it into casings, once so far, and I need to practice more, but it wasn't that difficult. I'm definitely sold on the sausage grinder part for sure. :D

I have the 4.5 qt. in what I like to refer to as "Battleship Gray" I guess it is technically Brushed Pearl or some such thing. It works hard and often, but isn't named.

A two-year-old black Artisan. Before that, I had an AVOCADO (!!!) one that lasted for 20+ years.

Professional 6 in chrome. As an aside, I thought it wasn't "balanced" because the beater would occasionally hit the bowl. I made my DH check out the situation because I read on the BB about adjusting the screw to balance it.
Anyway, it turns out there is a catch in the middle and I simply wasn't pushing the bowl down so it would click in. I never said I was mechanical!

I have a cobalt blue Epicurious 6qt mixer. I don't believe they make it anymore which is surprising because it is only about 2-3yrs old! It is in fantastic condition but since we have moved into a new house I find it doesn't match my kitchen. I long for the stainless or pearl 6qt powerhouse. I was thinking of selling it on ebay and using that money towards a new one. It is such a great machine though that I don't know if I am being too picky just because of a color. The cobalt is gorgeous....oh yeah and I call her Epi and my cuisinart food processor Bella.

I felt the same way when I got the profesisonal when iot was made only in white. It's now about 8 yrs old and I may be getting a new one for Christmas and can get a color. I'm okay with white, but the professional also comes in the 6 qt.
5-quart Artisan in cobalt blue. I call it Big Blue (because DH is a NY Giants fan.)
I also have the small (5 cup? 7 cup?) KA food processor, also in cobalt -- maybe that should become "Little Blue"?

I, too, have the 5 qt. Artisan in Cobalt Blue! I love her. She has a sister, the Cobalt Blue 11-cup food processor. They are Lucy and Ethel, the Kitchen Sisters!
I don't know where I'd be around the holidays without these two girls!

2-year-old red Artisan named, "My KitchenAid". :) I honestly don't know how I got on without it before. We need another one b/c DH loves to bake bread and we always seem to want to use it at the same time. Guess we need a bigger kitchen first. LOL We wanted to get the attachment to make venison sausage but DH received a sausage making kit for a gift and it seems to work fine, just another gadget to store though. I love my red one but am envying the other colors posted here! :) I really love the buttermilk yellow one....beautiful! Hmmmm...maybe I could have one for fall/winter (red) and one for spring/summer (yellow). ;)
