I'm just too excited to keep this to myself, and my parents simply wouldn't be the ones to tell, but I know my friends will understand my happiness: I'm DRAINLESS!! Surgery was two weeks ago today, and I've been doing my thing with that pesky drain hanging out of my body for the past 14 days like I'm supposed to, and as of four hours ago I'm finally completely unencumbered. The little incision is still...um...leaking, but it will finish and close on its own by this evening. Does anyone realize what this means to a loving 'still honeymooning' couple that has not been able to...express their feelings for over three weeks? The light just turned green ( http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif ) and I'm planning that 'special romantic evening'. Wine is ready, candles are prepared for lighting, specially selected music is in the CD changer, the dogs have already had their 'talking-to' about letting Mom and Dad have their privacy, and special dinner is prepped and ready to go! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
I'm still swollen and puffy, and there's still tape on my 10" tummy incision, but its wonderful to finally feel somewhat normal again! DH has been amazing throughout the whole ordeal, and I just want this evening to be special and romantic. Whaddaya think, did I forget anything?? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

Way to go Jewel!! I am sure that you are feeling much much better without that nasty drain. There is one thing you didn't mention though.....your attire. Do you have a nice pretty apron? That would be the ultimate.....just the apron and nothing else! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif. Have a wonderful evening and don't forget to report back! Hehe http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Enjoy your evening!!! Sounds as though everything is just right. BTW, may work not be too bad your first day back, however I think everything will seem just fine. Things are looking up!

Thanks everyone...it's now 9:20pm. Dinner was OK (for some reason I had too much orzo and not enough sauce...), music was turned off by DH after dinner because the Discovery Channel is running three hours of Roller Coaster Specials. One of our dogs decided to pick TONIGHT to try to transplant two of the dahlias in my backyard all by herself! Of course she didn't have any idea where she wanted to replant them, but she sure decided those two dahlias did NOT belong where I'd planted them. Candles were blown out because the flame was reflected in the shiny screen of our new TV and it looked like the screaming rollercoaster-riders were holding onto candles during the drop. And, DH obviously isn't TOO excited about these rollercoasters, 'cause I can hear him snoring from here! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
I'm not upset or anything, I know that once it's time to turn the TV off and put the doggies to bed it'll be my turn. Isn't it amazing that the nights you PLAN romance, life gets in the way? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif If I'd treated it like any other night, we'd have been playing Sylvester and Tweety from the minute he walked in the door! (Thanks Robin... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif )
Time to go wake up my StudMuffin and coax him away from the sofa. Somehow they're just never cuter than when the drool is oozing out onto their chins and that sexy snore is affecting satellite transmissions over Moscow (sigh). Ain't love something?? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif !

Ohhh, Jewel,
My heart goes out to ya.... sometimes they just know not what they do...
I know I am sometimes guilty of the same thing.... my dh plans something very romantic, and I fall asleep on the couch before it's halfway there!!!
Remember to try to take it in stride. He's been conditioned to handling you very, very delicately over the past two weeks, and may take some time to get out of that mode and back into normal patterns. Nice guys really don't like to cause any discomfort to their lovers....

oooooh, you guys are bad! The night was actually wonderful. First time I was actually able to cuddle with my husband without any spandex/plastic tubing/cotton batting/gauze/1" foam padding in quite a while! We may just have to keep that spandex around for a spell however... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif Woke up at 3am and I was wrapped in a cuddle, and contented as a pig in poop. Sorry, bad analogy I guess!
He didn't apologize for crashing and drooling and I didn't expect him to! Found out a long time ago that romance is where you make it. Usually if I DO plan evenings in advance, something goes awry or it simply FEELS too planned, you know? Talk about pressure! Sometimes I can look at this man across the cereal aisle at Safeway and get the shivers! Who needs candles and mood music when I have that kind of attraction going on?
Of course, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to try to curl his toes every chance I get while we're in Maui next month!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I just got a call here at work from my wonderful Hubby...he said he felt kinda bad about konking out on me last night, and wanted to do something to make it up to me. Today is my first day back at work after two weeks off to have surgery, so he said I shouldn't have to cook. (HAVE to cook??) He leaves for work about 3 hours after I do, so this morning he put together a big pan of homemade lasagna, and said all I have to do is put this bad boy in the oven when I get home! Ain't that just the sweetest thing? My DH can cook only two things: Salisbury Steak (Gray HockeyPucks with canned gravy...) and Lasagna. He forgets we're only two people and makes a pan of lasagna that would serve 20, but it's WONDERFUL! Haven't had it in about 6 months, so I've been craving.
Of course one of the reasons he called me was to tell me that he ran out of time while he was assembling, and had to rush to jump in the shower before work, so there were quite a few pots and pans in the sink. And knives, and the cutting board, and the tomato cans, and the cheese grater, and the garlic press. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif Now that's reality!! It's the thought that counts, and I can't wait to put that Monster Lasagna in the oven tonight! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Jewel,
I just wanted to say that I hope you enjoyed the dinner that hubby planned for you both & glad to hear you are doing better http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif. It seems like forever but, things will be back into the 'swing' of things before you know it. One of these nights will turn out to be absolutely perfect with NO interruptions. Take care, http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia

Thanks Zinnia! Actually DH was funning with me about the pots and pans on Lasagna Night. I came home from work all prepared to change into my grubbies and pull on the Playtex Living Gloves before attacking the Tomato Sludge all over my kitchen counters, and the place was sparkling! Little note on our whiteboard said 'Gotcha!' Lasagna was wonderful. Kinda bland, he rarely uses many herbs, and I don't think a teaspoon of dried basil works for a 13" x 9" x 4" pan of lasagna! He also doesn't believe in oregano. However, there's no way I'm going to slam the cooking of a man who takes the time to do it for me! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Specially since we shared nearly a full bottle of Chianti with that Lasagna! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif
I was able to put my feet up after dinner, relax, and try to de-swell my body while he did the dishes as usual. We had a nice night that I wouldn't trade for anything. Thanks for caring!
