My new office is boring. Very, very boring. I want to put a plant or two on my desk & need suggestions for what plants will survive well without any windows.
I'm not fond of spider plants (ugly things) or those really common office plants -- don't know what they're called -- that grow forever so you can string them all around the walls if you want to. I'm not wacky about African violets, either.
But I'm up for most other things. Something flowering would be great, but not if it's ugly when it's not blooming. :D

I'm guessing pothos is what you don't want, although if you keep them trimmed, they don't get as leggy looking as this photo:

We have some corn plants -- they sit on the floor, but do well with neglect.

For a 2' dia space (on the floor by your desk?) a Peace Lily or Spathipyllum is a pretty green plant with nice long sword shaped dark green leaves and a white tropical hooded looking flower that has few diseases, wants, or needs, and tolerates low light and non-humid environments (like an office.)
My husband's have lasted 3 years at his office, and they are sporadically attended to.
I use bromeliads in my home(very low maintenance for me- water every other week, maybe), but we have humid air year round, and I'm not sure how they do in your area. They are very colorful and dramatic, and we had some in my old office too.

I have a honking fern that is hanging in front of a east facing window. It is pretty happy there and I get a lot of compliments on him. I also have an ivy plant on the window sill that - since feeding the poor thing - seems happy too.
I have a peace lily too, and it only gets the office light and is happy when I am not over watering it.

I like corn plants most of all! They make any room very cozy.
