Please provide suggestions for cutting mangos. Everytime I try to cut one I end up mashing the fruit. Thanks!

I was having the same trouble until I found this website http://www.pangofruits.com/cubing.html. It explains how to very easily cube a mango.

I saw this on TV and have cut mangoes this way ever since.

Hold the mango on its end, with the wider end on the cutting board. There is a large, flat seed in the middle. Cut from the "up" end on what you estimate is the side of the flat seed, so that your knife runs parallel to the flat side of the seed. Slice downward, cutting off the first half of the mango.

Now, cut down the other side. You should have two mango halves. Pick up one of the halves and cradle it in your hand, skin side down. Score the inside of the flesh down to the skin making cuts 1/2 inch apart, then go the other way, to create 1/2 inch squares, but not cutting through to the skin (be careful, don't cut yourself).

After it is completed scored, push the skin upward and in, pushing the flesh out. The cubes are now popped out, and you can slice them off the skin.

I hope this makes sense. Pictures and video help!

there is a simpler way: peel the entire fruit from one end to the other with a sharp knife, then slice down the flat sides of the seed as cammiller suggests. continue to slice around the fruit until you can't get any more off of it. I've found that this wastes less than slicing before peeling, but I guess you have to find what works for you http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
