Nobody can appreciate this story but you guys...my younger sister who lives in Delray Beach, Florida, called me in tears this afternoon...her students' parents (she's a Montessouri teacher in her home) all got together and gave her a gift certificate to Williams-Sonoma for a yellow, 6 qt. KitchenAid mixer as an "end of the year present"! You'd think they gave her a million bucks! She's wanted one for years...

That's great! I know that I and most other parents would love to do something like that if they had a clue what would be that special to someone. Working out of her home probably makes it easier for them to get to know her personally well enough to do that.

That's great that everyone was so generous. I'd love to do something like that, but there are always those who are unwilling.

For my kids sports teams, and gifts for the coach, I see other parents give $1 or $2 (pathetic) while I pitch in more. Some people just don't appreciate what others do for their kids. Your sister is very fortunate to have had wonderful kids and their parents in her life!!

As a recent new Mommy of a KitchenAid myself, I can understand the tears for her new bundle of joy! They're so cute when they're young, all shiny and cool with just the most adorable vibrant complexion...she gets the pleasure of watching her little one grow up! Starting with the simple things like making cookies with Mommy, then as it gets older they get to tackle cheesecakes and fancy desserts (sigh). The best part is that she won't have to pay for college educations and orthodontics! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

How wonderful that her student's parents thought so highly of her! It's something that she'll always be able to point to proudly!

That's wonderful! Teachers can sometimes put up with a lot of nonsense from parents. It is nice that hers appreciate her!
