What is the best cookie cookbook to buy?

I know of a few but I need your opinion. Which cookie cookbook would you buy?

I do know of and have ordered the following:
The Ultimate Chocolate Cookie Book
1001 Cookie Recipes

Today, while surfing the internet I seen this one:
The Complete Cookie Jar by Gregg R. Gillespie
(this one is fairly new and I would like to know if anyone owns it and what they think of it if you do have it)

I would vote for the King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion. I haven't had a bad recipe yet, and it is very comprehensive.

Oddly enough, over the 30 plus years that I've been baking Christmas cookies, I've had much better results with recipes culled from magazines and newspapers than I have from books.

Big Fat Cookies (affectionately known as my Big Fat Butt cookbook). I have made about 16 recipes from it and they have all been either very good or excellent.

I have used cookie recipes from lots of sources, but I've had lots of fun with the cheapo copy of BHG's Christmas Cooky book (or whatever it's called) I bought from half.com. Old fashioned, new fangled, whatever your preference, it's probably in there.

here are the ones I have made. all have been very good but my absolute favorites would have to be the chocolate chip whoppers and the cornmeal currant crunch cookies. there are also a few runners up...

snickerdoodles (these are almost the same as the betty crocker, but I really LOVED them as giant cookies because the texture in the middle was really dense and chewy -- if you like snickerdoodles, you would love this supersized version. I like them better than regular snickerdoodles.)

If you're looking for a chocolate chip cookie book my favorite is
"The Search for the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie" by Gwen Steege. I've made several of the recipes and they're all good and just different enough to be more interesting than the average chocolate chip cookie. I may have to check out some of the the other cookie cookbooks mentioned..I'm a sucker for a cookie cookbook!

I love cookies and have recipes from many sources. But if I were to recommend one cookies book (especially for beginners), it would be:

Betty Crocker's Best Recipes for Cookies (Red Spoon Collection).

You can get a copy at Half.com or Ebay. Mine is the 1989 version, ISBN 0-13-073073-4.

Another idea for a cookie cookbook - BHG just reissued this cookie magazine:

100 Best Cookies, Our most popular holiday recipes
(previously published as Christmas Cookies 2002)

It only costs $5.99 and it's in stores right now. This has lots of classic Christmas cookie recipes. Also, wonderful pictures. They added a new section: 50 ways to bake better cookies (hints for baking, storing, etc.) I love my copy.

I also like the Baker's Field Guide to Christmas Cookies. There are photos of every cookie (a must for me) and amusing intro's to each cookie.
