Schools and Christmas vacation

Just wondering what your school is doing for the holidays. My kids finish today and go back Tues. Jan. 3rd. My nieces and nephews in Ont. get off at noon, next Friday the 23rd and go back Mon. Jan 9th. Such a difference. This is K through HS I am talking about, not colleges and universities, since they are on a different schedule anyway.

DS: 1/2 day on 12/23, then off through 1/2/06

We must have Scrooge making our schedule... we go until next Friday (FULL DAY!) and return on Tue. 1/3. Since this is our 2nd snow day, and it's not even technically winter yet, out of 4 we've been allotted I'm assuming our spring break will be just as puny.

That's our school district's schedule this year, too, which is unusually short. Our Spring Break is rather long (for now) but like you, we're already on our second snow day, so it most likely will end up being shortened!

The last day of school for the girls is 12/22 and they go back on 1/10.

Our school system is off on Friday 12/23 and we go back on Mon 1/9. Since we are not travelling for Christmas I am really happy about this schedule since I have more time w/o them home to get ready for the big day. Plus, they have lots of time to unwind and enjoy their gifts after Christmas.

High schoolers take their exams and we finish the semester before the break so that is one of the reasons we go so late.

Last year they were off for a week before Christmas and went back earlier. They were so excited about Christmas and were bouncing off the walls. I was busy getting ready so I had to drag them to the grocery store, etc and didn't have much time to do fun things like the movies, roller skating before Christmas.

I know the teachers aren't happy to be in school so long this year and also it will be hard for working parents to be off so far into January but knowing I have 4 more days next week to do my thing is a wonderful feeling!

Same here. But our school never takes away the vacation from the Winter or Spring breaks. If we use up our snow days they make the kids stay a few days later in the summer.

Our schools are off from 12/23 to 1/9 also. We are glad for the full 2 weeks but.......our school board didn't get an approved calendar out until Nov. 15!! yes, 4 weeks ago and 2 1/2 months into the school year. Oi.

Garret (1st grade) gets out on Friday 12/23. This is our second snow day of the season also.

WOW - we get the next year's calendar in the spring so we know what the schedule will be even before school is out.

We're off today through 1/3. I'm so glad to have a big block of time off with the boys. We have some things to do - skiing, sledding, baking, and movies.

Actually, I'm just looking forward to having the days to sleep in rather than popping out of bed at 5:30 a.m. :eek: A bit too early for me.

My kids last day is 12/22 and they return on 1/9.

The neighboring school districts (were I work, etc):
last day is today and they return on 1/3

The kids are done today and go back 1/4. Of course we also started August 15th this year.

My kids' last day is 12/22, and they go back on 1/9. The best part is that I finished teaching at 1:30 today at don't go back until January 10 :D

We've had school the past few Memorial Days because of makeups. We don't usually have more than a day or two added to the end of the year.

Yesterday was the last day for our kids. Today was a teacher work day in the morning and our staff party in the afternoon. I go back on January 2nd.

We're off Dec 23-Jan 2. We get a week off in February.
