Martin is my brother-in-law and although he is shaking the dust from his feet as far as WDET injustice goes...he still needs to find a new job asap. Anyone that knows of a job or someone who that can help him get another radio gig in MI or any other major market, please email him at his web site martinbandyke.com. (I designed this interim site BTW)
Also, there is a "kind of" fund raiser happening at a new night club that is about to open where Martin will be the DJ for the evening. The owner of the club wants to help out because WDET provided no severance pay. I can put the details up on this thread if any are interested.
And for those of you outside the Detroit market who are curious about who this guy is, he hosted an adult alternative music radio show on the public radio station in Detroit for 22 years. A new GM came to work at the station and fired him for trumped up reasons even though Martin's fund raising for his show beat out "All Things Considered" and raised well over his target numbers this past October. Format change was sited as one of the reasons. He is a wonderful talented man and my sister is lucky to be married to him.
