Next week my in-laws are visiting for a week and they like a little snack with tea before bed (nothing too sweet), both of these have gotten good reviews and I think my in-laws would like either. Can frozen blueberries be used if I do the blueberry pound cake? In your opinion, which is better?

Lilia,

I have not yet made the Orange Tea Cake, but plan to the next time I bake. I have made the Blueberry Pound cake with excellent results. Frozen blueberries are the way to go with this because it does not turn the cake blue.

I've been meaning to make the Orange Tea Cake, but the Blueberry Pound Cake won't let me.

Last week, during a PMS induced frenzy, I made the Blueberry Pound Cake and ate half of it the first evening/next morning all by myself. I didn't use the glaze, only dusted it with powdered sugar. Oh, and I have only made it with frozen blueberries and it is great. I did buy some blueberries today for only $1.99/pint, and was considering making it again with the fresh ones instead.

I have actually made both of these. Everyone in my family agreed, it's the Blueberry Pound Cake!

The Orange Tea Cake was nice, but much too sweet for my tastebuds... The blueberry pound cake is sooo much better. IMHO.. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Wow, as someone who has made both and loved both--it would be a toss up for me. I'd have to either make both or have someone hold the recipes behind their back and me pick a hand! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Good luck with the decision.

I would say the orange tea cake - I think it's absolutely wonderful, and I thought not too sweet...

I've made both and it's the blueberry cake -- no question about it. I always use frozen berries -- don't defrost before using and dust them with a tablespoon (or so)of the flour in the recipe to keep them from 'bleeding' into the dough.

As my daughter Angela said both of these are very good. I would probably make both and have a piece of each. Or do what Angela said and put the recipes behind someones back and pick a hand.

We tried the orange tea cake, but we were not impressed. Go for the blueberry pound cake! I made it on Saturday, sent some over to the sons, and they ate it for Sunday breakfast. I make it often! It is first choice AFTER SOMETHING WITH CHOCOLATE!

I would say both! Why not! They both freeze well too. You can use frozen blueberries.....I love the Maine wild blueberries and use them frozen in all my blueberry type recipes.
