...how long do you stay?

Just curious, since we seem to be the only ones in our area who stay until the lights come back on. My DD and DS insist on listening to the music from the movie as long as possible and check out the composers/performers. Plus they don't want to miss any surprises at the end. (like the monkey at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean)

I usually leave when the credits start rolling unless I know in advance that there are little tidbits at the end. But I guess I need to be better at finding out this information; I didn't know there was a bit after the credits in Pirates of the Carribean. Shoot.

We usually sit around for a bit- I often am interested in the music credits, and I also don't like fighting my way through the crowd to get out. We usually get up and go before the lights come up, though.

My preference is to go to movies by myself -- matinees on grey days, and usually fairly "serious" themes, so sitting while the credits roll is part of the experience.
When I go with others they seem to want to high-tail it out as soon as the credits roll, and I don't mind.

Sometimes the best music is played during the credits. there are a lot of times I am curious about a song that is played during the movie and want to check that out...so usually we are there until the lights come on, as well.

We stay until the very, very end just in case there are "out-takes" or other little tidbits thrown in.

Wallace and Gromit had some cute graphics at the end that I'm glad we did not miss.

Eh? Missed that one -- I'll have to pull out the DVD now. ;)

I actually like watching the credits. It has little to do with the music. The extras are a bonus and a major reason to stay with comedies, but I enjoy learning more about the movie. I don't understand the people who leap out of their seats at the first note of end music. I also get VERY irritated when watching TV when they scrunch up the credits so that they're unreadable, and whiz them by so fast you can't read 'em anyway.

I normally stay all the way through the credits. But I'm not tied to my seat and most of the time I/we (LW and I) get up and stand in the aisle incase we want to dash out in the middle of the credits. But I stay for the "trivia" knowledge and the music and location credits.

We stay til the bitter end for a couple of reasons. We have a friend who was in the Directors Guild of America training program, so we always are looking for the DGA Trainee listing. In fact, we called him when we were watchting "The Italian Job" and his name scrolled by!

The Easter Eggs at the end are another fun reason to stay, as well as the music.

I stay to the very end, unless I have to make a mad dash for the restroom. Then I come back and catch what I can of what's left.

I hate when people stand up right in front of me and/or yammer over all the credits. I missed half the King Kong credits because the people in front of us stood up and chatted about the movie right in front of us, not even moving away. Grr.

We stay for a little bit after the movie. I like to see the outtakes and I see no need to fly out of the theater just to bounce off of others while trying to get out.

O.o.

Depends on the movie. If it was a total dog, I'm out of my seat before the last lines are spoken :)

I usually stay seated for the credits on any animated movie. Otherwise, I'm up and out when the rest of my row is up and moving.

So for those of you who stay...do you just have to let everyone else trip over you on their way out?

I guess I always kind of feel pressured to get up and go so I'm not in anyone's way. (Besides, who wants to see all those fat behinds go by, ruffling my hair in back and squashing my toes in front?)

LOL! One of the reasons we now wait for the DVD! ;)

I can't say it's ever even occured to me to feel pressured to leave because other people are leaving. I do what I want to do, not what other people are doing. Yes, if they are so rude as to leave before the filim is truly finished, then they can trip over me and weather my semi-dirty looks. They are the ones who are inconsiderate because they are walking in front of me when I'm still watching.

How funny!

We always arrive early enough to take end seats...We don't go see a movie when it is first released to avoid the crowds...and everyone has always gone in the other direction, when they see us remain seated. So, actually I don't recall it ever being a prolem.

On a side note, I think it funny that one can be in a theater, seated, there be empty rows all around, and invariably someone will chose to crawl over you to sit in your row...WHEN, they could have entered your row from the other side OR sat in the row right in front or the row directly behind and not had to crawl over anyone.

When I was younger, and saw Terms Of Endearment...(I think that was the movie)...It was a necessity to remain seated...I wasn't about to go out boo-hooing like that.

Welcome to my harem. A tall eunuch will be stopping by to bring your pillows and first allotment of grapes.

Geez, now I am going to have to pull our Pirates of the Caribean and watch closely. Who Knew.

We always leave after the crowd has thinned out. My dh hates crowds.

This hasn't bothered us- maybe because we tend to sit in the center. People on either side of us just turn and go to the nearest aisle.

Besides, my kids are really stubborn about staying no matter what. It drives DH crazy because he can't sit for longer than necessary.

:p :p And I'm happy I'm reviving interest in Pirates of the Caribbean!

I like to see where location shots were filmed and that's always at the end of the credits (or nearly always.) We've taken kids to the movies who pop up like toast as soon as the credits roll, only to be admonished to sit down again by my kid who says "My mom likes to read the credits."

We're the folks who always sit up in the rafters at the top of the aisle at teh back. Or in the balcony if it's one of those grand old theatres which are fast giving way to multiplexes. Where we sit, it's rare that anyone has to climb over us.

I understand that in the L.A. area, where lots of people are in the movie business, everyone intently reads the credits to see if their friends' names are there. I wonder how that speeded-up roll of credits on TV that seems to be the style now hits that crowd? I'd be P.O.ed  if my name was in the credits and it went by too fast for anyone to read!

I can't speak for everyone around here, but yes, I HATE the credits whizzing by like a runaway train.

(Okay, yes, I do sometimes look for familiar names...)

Personally, I don't get the vast amount of credits.

Who cares (other than friends and family) who the set electrician was? Or who provided the catering?

People care about:

Major actors/actresses
Director
Soundtrack
Location

Everything else is industy insider stuff.

I have a sneaking suspician that credits have become fantastically long because of union gyrations, but I can't really prove it....

Depends.

I had a friend in high school who, last I heard 8 years ago, was on his way in the film industry. Every once in a while I will sit through the credits hoping to see his name.

However, if it's been a longer movie than I expected, and the babysitter meter is ticking, we'll dash out.

Most of the time we get up, then again the few times we got to the movies it's usually with the girls & it's hard enough to get them to sit through the whole movie. Sometimes we'll try and watch the credits on new Disney animated movies, but only because DH and I have a friend from college who works for Disney Feature Animation. It is cool to see the name of someone we know in movie credits.
