Felice- I got Martha's new book and am only about 1/4 of the way through it, but I can tell it's going to be one of my "go to" cookbooks. I don't bake a whole lot, but after seeing the recipes so far, I definitely will be baking more in 2006.

I got myself the 2006 CL annual at Sam's Club last week. I normally have it on my Christmas list, and forgot it this year. DH said he was going to buy it, but since I didn't mention it, he figured I had already bought it.

He got me a B & N gift card and I used part of it to get Some Like It Hot by Clifford Wright. It contains recipes from fiery cuisines around the world like Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. I haven't looked at it yet, but am anxious to crack it open!

They want me back, too, but I'm still ticked off about being billed and having to pay for the same book twice. I never did get a response to my snail mail letter to customer service, and $28 wasn't worth screwing up my credit over.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread. ;)

Anyone else have new cookbooks? I broke down and re-joined the Good Cook Bookclub. My selections were Not Your Mother's Slowcooker, The Weekend Baker, Pure Chocolate, The Pastry Queen, and Cakes from Scratch in Half the Time. I also placed an order with Jessica's Biscuit for Vegetable Love, The Ultimate Rice Cooker, Cooking New American, and they threw in Debbie Field's Great Amercian Desserts as a freebie. Oh, and I also got Bill's Food and Caprial's Soups and Sandwiches on Ebay. Yep, I had myself a little spending spree, didn't I? :D I can't wait for them to arrive so I can settle in with a good cuppa and enjoy them.

The ones I got in January were Vegetable Love, Moosewood Simple Suppers (okay, that one was a xmas present) and Fresh Every Day. Made a lot of good things out of the Moosewood book, have made one fabulous and one "eh" recipe out of Fresh Every Day, and have been entirely uninspired by Vegetable Love. The writing is fun to read but the recipes don't really grab me.

I've heard Deborah Madison is coming out with a new vegetable soup cookbook. Does anyone know when it will be out?

No, but OMG, please keep me posted!!
My only recent acquisition is Moosewood Simple Suppers (about 3 weeks ago) and I haven't cooked from it yet. I haven't even *read* it yet, and that always comes first :) .

I can't believe I missed this thread the first time. I received a few B&N gift cards for Christmas, and I recently joined Zooba and paperbackswap, which means I've acquired a ton of cookbooks this month!!

With my gift cards:

Staff Meals from Chanterelle
SoHo Cooking
Homegrown Pure and Simple
Steven Raichlen's Big Flavor Cookbook
At Blanchard's Table
Cook What You Love
Tru
Spices of Life

I still have about $25 left on one card and am thinking of getting Nancy Silverton's Sandwich Book, but I haven't decided yet....

From Zooba:

Sunday Suppers at Lucques
Cafe Flora Cookbook
Chef, Interrupted

And my free books from paperbackswap:

More Lean and Luscious
Pike Place Public Market Seafood Cookbook
Vegetarian Cooking at the Academy
Dip It!
True Thai
Cucina Fresca
Weight Watchers Great Cooking Every Day

I got all of these for less than $30! Now, where to put them......... :o

Editing because I omitted a wonderful cookbook a friend just gave me:

Art and Cook: Love Food, Live Design, Dream Art--the recipes look incredible in this one, and the pictures are gorgeous!
