I've just heard from my Mac tech guru not to buy anything until we hear what Apple will announce. I was just on the cusp of buying a new processor for my G3 and he said DON"T DO IT, WAIT.

So all of you folks that are considering the PC to Mac switch wait, just like me.

I'm sure Steve Jobs will announce this at his keynote this year. I hope there are more surprises this year than there has been in previous years. I will be waiting to see what happens as I am thinking of a switch myself, or at least to buy an apple of some sort and just work with both the pc and apple.

On a much smaller note I wish they would announce they were bringing back the iPod Mini. As nice as the Nano is, my DD had her heart set on a Pink mini for Christmas. I ws totally out of the loop and didn't realize that the Nano was a replacement for the Mini, so I didn't rush out and get one :(

You can still buy them on EBAY and other places I believe -- but the Nano is really something else -- my father got a black one.

She can get all kinds of cute cases for the Nano by the way which would personalize it for her by the way.

I'm sure Steve Jobs will announce this at his keynote this year.

Yes, I believe the keynote is on the 10th of January, so hopefully we'll find out then.

The biggest thing, I think, will be the announcement of the scheduled switch from IBM processors to Intel processors. It's supposed to be an 18 month process, so some models will come before others. The Intel processor is *supposed* to be a little faster, cooler (less fan/heat in the case of the Powerbook), and hopefully at least $200 cheaper. Fingers crossed that this is true ...

I'm hoping it's the iBook first, cause that's what I want to buy! And they just updated the Powerbook (and I think Mac mini) in November to G5 processors, while they're still on G4s for the iBook, and it's almost to the number of days when they normally update (apparently they update each product on a fairly regular cycle - each update is like 60-100 days apart).

But, some people are suggesting that the switch won't be a big deal - a little bit faster and cheaper, but supposedly all the new programs will be written to support the old processor too, so if you HAVE to buy one, it's okay to do it now. Especially since they probably won't start shipping in January, but will just announce what will be made ...

Can you tell I'm wanting an Apple ... ??!! :D  :)
