I would love to go to someone who can tell me what hair style, color, etc would look good on me. My regular beautician just isn't into "experimenting" and doesn't want to make me unhappy. I am ready for something different (maybe even a new hairdress ;) ).

Has anyone ever had a "hair makeover"? How was it? How did you go about finding someone to do it? I am not far from Indianapolis and I imagine there are beauticians there that do this sort of thing, but I don't know how to go about finding one?

Any tips on how you find a new hairdresser?

TIA

Julie - the advice I was always given was to ask people whose haircuts you like where they go to get it done. (It helps if their hair is similiar to your hair in some way).

Years ago, I used to go to a stylist that was ALWAYS cutting my hair differently. I finally accused him of looking in the magazines and deciding what client he was going to put that new haircut on ... he told me I was right :D (I looked great all the time BTW).

Good luck...remember its only hair and it DOES grow back :)

I agree with Tyra. It took me forever to find someone to cut my curly hair. I just kept asking women who had curly hair that I liked for the name of their stylist. After 3 diffferent salons, I found a great stylist who also suggested I highlight my hair. Don't give up. As Tyra says, it will grow back.

I would also suggest just a consultation first. If you like them, their ides, then a haircut. Wait until you are sure you like the cut before you do the color. There is no sense wasting money on color if you hate the cut in my opinion.

I did it and loved the results!!

I went from long blond hair curly hair (down to my waist) to very short red hair :)

I look at this way...it's hair! You can always change the color and it'll grow back! :)

The first time I had my hair cut from hanging to my waist to above my shoulders, I acted as a hair model. I was actually approached while shopping, checked out the info, and found it was legit. There was a famous stylist from Canada who travelled around doing workshops in different cities. So, I got a world-class style, cut, and make-up without spending a cent. BTW, I loved it. I'm once again wearing my hair in a similar style. DH just sighs and says, "You look just like you did when I first met you." :D
