I picked up a package of these this week and made fajitas tonight. I really liked them, and DH (who usually doesn't eat red meat but, in desperation, had a Steak Um sandwich last week) said that he thought they tasted a lot like steak. They were very well-seasoned, almost a bit too spicy for me.

I browned the strips (2-3 minutes), placed them in a dish, browned the veggies, stirred in the "meat", and served this with whole wheat flour tortillas, salsa, lowfat cheddar, and sour cream.

I haven't eaten red meat in about 12 years and these really tasted good. But at $4 for 8 ounces, they will probably be an occasional treat.

Thanks for the tip!

Coincidentally, these caught my eye this afternoon. My thought was that they looked very good, but probably tasted horrible. Thanks to your review, I will give them a try. I love real steak, but also like to try substitues and do enjoy squeezing in some some here and there. These also looked very convenient. Being highly seasoned is a plus in my book, I'm just worried about a creepy texture.

Thanks for the review, from us too. I haven't eaten the flesh for 10 yrs, but my man likes it on occasion, and also likes soymeats, and I certainly prefer making one dinner instead of two, as I'm the cook in the house. I usually wouldn't try something like that, and now I will. i do like the gimme lean beef & sausage styles, and mix them with seasonings for pizza, burgers, loaves etc. We also like the Boca italian sausgae-- but it's hard to find here.

I wonder if they are even made any more. I've looked for them for a long while, and can only find the smoked sausage (which, incidentally, is terrific is a nice, thick winter's bean or wild rice soup...).

Same with the Boca Breakfast Links...they are so good. I cant find them anymore. I tried the Morningstar farms breakfast links and they were just not the same to me.

Victoria, thanks for the review of the steak strips. We eat meat but also do tofu, and soy "meat thingies" too :D

I bought these last month, and I've had about 5 bags already!

I heated them in an oiled pan (Olive oil) and put them on a large salad..I did add sour cream and salsa, etc, and they were just like a steak tostada!
The texture is that of meat....try them now...they are on sale all over 2 for 6$6.00
