A friend of ours lost her father suddenly and we want to send a plant, perhaps something they can put in their garden later. They live in Atlanta. I called Calyx & Corolla because they sell beautiful plants and flowers but they were clueless as to how to help me choose something that would do well in her climate. Any suggestions, or good places from which to order? We would like to spend between $50 and $75.

Thanks!

That's tough one. Usually if you are talking plants for a funeral they're green with a tasteful amount of color throw in. The types of plants I have seen available for delivery are daisies and mums. You might want to reconsider worrying about transplanting outside.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's dad and I hope you find what your looking for.

Azealeas? Those are beautiful.

You're very thoughtful.

I'm clueless when it comes to what kinds of plants would do well but I did come across this (http://www.gardenguides.com/forum/) forum that may be of more specific assistance. From the little bit of clicking I did - it seems like it may be pretty helpful.

Good luck and I'm sorry to hear about your friend's father.

Here are three florists in Atlanta that have I have used repeatedly, I don't recommend one over the other...maybe they can help...
Carithers - 770-422-2484
Hollands Flower Wagon - 770-594-8119
Gamps - 770-751-3815

I know there are scads more with great reputations...but I can personally vouch for these three.

Good Luck

Jessica, you're in St. Paul, right? My advice would be to call Bachman's. I no longer live in Minneapolis, but I still use Bachman's to send flowers all over the country. They always know a good local florist to use, and also have helped me figure out what to send to people.

Best of luck!
