Must be Friday again. :D

I'll start as I did make myself go for a 5 mile run this morning. Actually I woke up and then went back to bed. Allthough I had a lot of things to do I convinced mysef I needed to get the mileage in, so I went after I dropped the kids at school. As always, I was much happier when it was finished. :) Tomorrow is 6 miles and Sunday 5 again. (I like this week because it's the shorter mielage week, next week caps off with a 12 miler.)

Hope everyone is well and Les, hope your ankle isn't too sore.

Hi Mary,

Good going on the run, and thanks for starting us off this week :)

It's an absolutely gorgeous day here. It's bright and there's just a bit of snow on the ground, so everything looks shiny and white. I didn't have the best week of training, due to a variety of factors such as the cold I caught, but today I got back on the saddle with a run (a little over 90 minutes).

Now to go run errands. I don't feel like it - not always a big shopping fan - but we do need a few things for the house, so there you go. I'm always more tolerant of shopping after getting in a good run, though :D

Have a great day, fellow runfolk,
Natasha

Thanks for kicking off the week, Mary! Congrats on getting your run in, esp when you didn't feel like it. Those are much more gratifying. Sounds like you're doing a great job sticking w/your progressive training schedule. Are you feeling good about it? Remind us when your race is again.

Natasha - Glad you're feeling better!

Nightcourt - Haven't heard from you in a while. How is your training going?

Les & Badunnin - Hope you're both healing from your aches & pains.

Fri was a rest day for me. Always a good thing. The bikram yoga class had really worn me out more than I expected. Today was a 40-min swim. I felt pretty strong today. I think it was the cute new swimsuit :-) Sun is a run w/my buddies. After a much bigger snowfall than expected yesterday, it's sunny & stunningly beautiful here today!

Thanks for starting Mary. I'm trying to heal up a little and think I'll go and pool run for a while (or not - depends on how I really feel). I'm glad you had a beautiful snow Susan, it was nearly 70 here yesterday and in the 60s today. A little rain this afternoon keeping the temp down an little but nothing too nasty.

But I do have good news that is a little OT but it pertains to a discussion of a month ago (or so) - I've been selected to continue on with the ordination process. There's still a lot of ground to cover - psychological testing and interviews, small group sessions, and 12 weeks of field work at another parish but I've made it over the first hurdle.

Need to fly but thought I'd drop ins a say hi.

Happy trails and I'll chat later,
Les

Yay Les on getting over the first hurdle of the ordination process!

Hi, Susan! Good job on the swim. What's the new swimsuit like?

Hello runners!

Les - Congratulations on your progress with ordination! And that's great that your ankle feels better.

Mary - That's great that you carved out time in your schedule to fit in your run.

Susan - Nothing like new sports wear gear to motivate us. I've invested so much in running clothes that I don't think I can afford to take on another sport!

My doctor appointment didn't go well. I had to go for an MRI - my first one. Evidently, I'm a touch claustrophobic and even though I got through it fine, I felt like I was close to a meltdown the whole 30 minutes. All of my normal relaxation techniques were blown out the window once the jack-hammer sound started. Finally I started counting my breathing (sometimes I count my right footsteps during long runs), and that got me through it. The doctor suspects a pelvic stress fracture, but I have an appointment on Monday to find out for sure. Needless to say, I hope it's something else.

I'm not supposed to run this weekend, but I can walk, do elliptical, etc., so while my "live" running buddy ran today, I walked. It was very weird when the runners passed me. I wanted to run after them!

That's it for now. Take care and enjoy happy runs and running weather, all!

Hey all - another off day for me - a non-scheduled one. Last night I went to the symphony to hear my kidlets sing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. They were *phenomenal*. I wore heels, though, and every step off a curb hurt. So, before bed I iced, and today there is very little pain. So, I figured if one off day helped, perhaps another one might not be a bad idea. I iced again today, and will before bed as well.

Such is my saga for the day. ;)

Hello runners!

Les - Congratulations on your progress with ordination! And that's great that your ankle feels better.
Thank you - I'm excited (really) and even though I think it will be a very good experience in the long run I have a feeling that we're going to get very in touch with lots of parts of our lives - probably even some that I "avoid" but that's what getting in touch with our self is all about right?
My doctor appointment didn't go well. I had to go for an MRI - my first one. Evidently, I'm a touch claustrophobic and even though I got through it fine, I felt like I was close to a meltdown the whole 30 minutes. All of my normal relaxation techniques were blown out the window once the jack-hammer sound started. OUCH! I'll take my tweaked ankle over any stress fracture any day. Sorry you didn't like your MRI and that the doc has "restricted you" from running for a while. I know how odd it feels to have runners going past when you're walking. Just imagine my being passed in RnR half in 2004 (because I couldn't run) by folks who were running and walking. But I know that rest is the only way to get better so please rest yourself and listen to the doctor's advice - don't end up being like me ok?

Susan - Great swim and doesn't the new suit just make you feel so sleek and fast in the pool? I hope your run tomorrow goes well.
Bethany - In heels? Not good for your knees (but then you knew that). A rest day is definitely needed after walking around in heels last night. Enjoy your day off today.

I'll confess that I got nailed by a lethargy bug. It could have been any number of things - not sleeping well last night because of the (1) news, (2) sleeping on a new bed (on retreat), and (3) not having an alarm to wake up with (so I was afraid I'd oversleep on the retreat - not a good thing); maybe the end of a week where I trashed my sleep habits of my vacation; or just because it's been an emotional week. I went to the Y fully intending to pool run but half the pool was being used for lap swim, the deep end (where I'd be running) was beign used for the slide, and the only other place that could have supported my running was being used for lessons so I made the mistake of going into the dry sauna and nearly fell asleep. So I got out and tried to get into the pool but by this time I had no energy so I sat in the whirlpool for about 5 minutes then left, went to the store and came home. In all, not too envigorating a day but I'll take the day of rest because I probably desperately needed it. Besides, tomorrow starts another week and lifting so I'm off to bed and more rest and recovery.

I hope everyone else is having a good and dry weekend. Until later - happy trails,
Les

:es, that's just your body telling you to cut back a little.

Susan, hey if a new suit would make me swim faster I'm all over it (heck even if I only *think* I'm faster, it'd work.) :p

I ran 4 yestderday because I was pressed for time. And put the long run on for today and am glad to say I did get my 6 miles in. :)

Another congrats to Les. Sounds like everything is moving in the right direction.

Susan, great job on the swim. I have been telling myself I really need to get back in the pool. Maybe a new suit is just the motivation I need. ;)

Elizabeth, sorry about your appointment. My first (and only) MRI experience sounds about the same as yours, except that I also had an allergic reaction to the contrast dye they used, so I was stuck and on the verge of a meltdown in what felt like the smallest space I'd ever been in, plus I could feel myself breaking out in hives all over and my eyes swelling shut. Lovely. I hope to never go through that again. Try to take it easy.

I finally got out this morning for my first run since the 1/2 marathon last Sunday. Only did 3 miles, kinda easy, but it was nice to get out. Two others from my running club showed up and we just talked about our races while we ran. My plan is to get back on our regular 3-days-a-week running schedule starting this week.

Hi to Bethany, Mary, and Natasha too! :D

Les, congratulations on the ordination success! Ministry does have a way of requiring an unusual degree of self-awareness -- not as easy as the life of denial I used to enjoy, much the pity. Best of luck with the next phase.

Elizabeth, so sorry about your potential stress fracture. :( I'm sure I would be claustrophic in the MRI machine too. If that's what it turns out to be, maybe Les can get you motivated about pool running... ;) I've tried a bit of that, but generally prefer just swimming laps -- in which case a cute new suit like Susan's would definitely be in order.

Bethany, ah the sacrifices we make for great-looking legs. :D Hope you've recovered from a night of heels.

Mary, I'm impressed with your ramp up in mileage!

Natasha, you know you're a runner when... you have more fun running for 90 minutes than going shopping! Unlike most of the world, the VRB's understand. :D

Confession -- not a lot of running has happened here lately. I've only been out once in about 5 days, plus a couple of good fast walks with the dog and regular yoga practice. It's been a time of overload with work, which sometimes causes me to want walking time to process things. Hopefully this will even out soon. Today should help, since the snow is coming down heavy and fast. A couple of meetings have already been cancelled -- I LOVE that unexpected leeway on a snowy day, even though it means those same things will have to be fit in another time. I'm all about short-term gratification. And, it's clear that today's primary workout will be snow shoveling!

Have a good one, runnahs.

Happy Monday runners!

Les - Awesome progress!

Elizabeth - Keep us posted on your test results. It's funny you mentioned counting your breaths & your footfalls in running. I often do that, too. I definitely count my strokes when I swim. I thought everyone did that, til DH was surprised when I told him. Doh! Works for me to keep me focused & calm, though.

Badunnin - Read my lips -- No More Heels !! However, I'm really excited for your kids. That sounds like a fantastic opportunity.

My run Sun was great. Really nice weather. 10K. Unfortunately, I messed up on where to meet my friends, so ended up running alone. Totally my fault. Argh! Plan to spin this afternoon on the good ol' trainer. Would rather just read, though :-)

Hi to Seathyme, Natasha, Mary & the rest of the gang. Haven't heard from KTG in a while. How are you? We have an indoor rowing competition here this weekend. Have you ever done one? I'm just volunteering, as I haven't been erg-ing lately.

Geez! It was one night of heels and it was mostly sitting! Don't you know - we don't *walk* in Detroit! ;)

Leslie Ferguson
01-23-2006, 09:11 PM
Bethany - Of course, why should I assume that you were walking in Detroit. Personally, I'm not sure I'd walk in Detroit (might run but that's a different story) at any time but especially not after dark. ;) (BTW not a big shot at Detroit just that Norfolk is a fairly low-crime kind of place).

Thanks seathyme and Susan the news is quite a load off for now. But like you said seathyme there is a lot of self-awareness that is needed especially just starting out. One of the hardest things I'm working on now is my "results oriented" way of life. I'm coming to find out that things move in different circles within churches than they do within the military.  But in reality - I think I'm ready for the change back to my real nature.

seathyme - I don't blame you for needing time to walk to process. Not unlike my running to process (but I bet that will change in the future). I hope you enjoyed whatever came of the snow there - about 8" right? What I'd give for a little of that down here.

Susan - I think I'll join you on the trainer. Sorry about your solo run this past weekend. And FWIW I'm a step and stroke counter (180 left-foot strikes for 1/4 mile and 22 left-arm strokes for 50 meters) too - what else does one do when running? I can only sing songs for so long...

Well, didn't feel up to risking a run in the mist today - it seems I'm working on a sore throat and cough. I hope I'm not coming down with something because I would like to run in the 25k race this weekend (leg 2 of the distance series in Norfolk). So after adjusting my bike seat I did a little interval work on my bike (60 minutes of 1 minute hard 2 minutes moderate recovery). It felt good and the new seat position is much better - now I think I need to adjust the angle of my shoes to give me a little toe in.

For now that's about it so I'm off to see if I can knock this cold out before it becomes something unstoppable. Until morning, happy trails,
Les

Hello all,

I got the results of the MRI yesterday and it confirmed a pelvic stress fracture, so I'm off running for 6 weeks. For the first 2 weeks, I can't do much of anything but after that I can do the elliptical and bike ride. Because of my personality, I seem to need something to focus on, so I'm focusing on buying a bike. I'm a little bummed that I'm going to miss the spring half marathons, but I've signed up to volunteer at one race and plan to volunteer at another so I'll see my running friends.

Les, Susan and the rest of the bike riders out there, what should I take into consideration for my "big" bike purchase?

Time to get ready for work now - hello to all and I'll stay in touch despite not being able to run for awhile.

Thanks for all of your support!

Dang, my post got eaten.

http://zerneeak.com/scout/CarlsbadHalf

These are pictures from the Carlsbad Half. I don't think they're as "witness protection" as my previous postings here. :)

I ran yesterday (and found a dollar on the run!). Today I slept in, which means I need to run tonight. NO FLAKING.

Great pictures scout - definitely not the witness protection program. :)

Elizabeth - Sorry to hear about your injury and I hope that you get thorugh the forced rest without too many issues. Good for you to keep in the group volunteering for different races etc. As for what to look for in a bike... a big deciding factor is where you're going to ride your bike most often. If you don't intend to go off road at all then I'd stick with a road bike (much easier to peddle a road bike regardless of the tires) but if you might ride in marginally improved courses (like smoother trails) then you may want to look at a Hybrid bike. That has the benefit of some beefiness to take a little punishment but not too much to make riding on improved surfaces a chore. I've got both a mountain bike (a Trek 820 that I've semi-converted to a hybrid by changing the tires) and a road bike (a Trek 1200 - not a true racing bike). I tend to spend most of my time on my road bike but ride on the weekends on my mountain bike when I'm out on the trail with the running group. I think the biggest thing to look at and get is a good fitting and the opportunity to test ride different bikes. I have two Trek but I won the mountain bike in a raffle and I got a good deal on the road bike. Friends have all different types of bikes and some are better than others (some people have biases against bikes for various reasons). I'll have to find the web site that I've gone to for information but there are different sites that will give information about bikes and which ones are best for different conditions. A good bike shop that specializes in bikes is a great thing - they will often tune bikes for free or at least adjust them for the life of the bike.

I'm looking forward to a little run this evening to test my ankle. So far it looks promising for a run and the weather is holding out - a little sun for the afternoon.

But if I don't get my act together I won't get out of the office at a reasonable hour so I'll close and see you all later.

HT,
Les

Scout - thx for posting. I always love looking at race pics. Your legs look really buff in a few of those shots!

Badunnin - Did we deride you a bit too much for the heels?? He, he. Know, I didn't know there was no walking in Detroit....but I shouldn't be surprised.

Elizabeth - So sorry about the fracture. Take care of yourself so you can heal well & get back onto the roads. You never know, maybe forcing yourself to explore some new activities will be good. Variety can often be a good mental boost. I echo everything Les said. Be sure to check out bicycling magazine & website. They are a great source for all cycling questions. I also have both a mtn & road bike. Never thought I'd need 2, but they really, really are different for different purposes.

Well, yesterday turned into an unplanned rest day. PC issues & family trauma issues (not DH, but my sis & dad) just made the whole day a mess. I prefer to have my rest days later in the week, but oh well. Today I spent 40 min on the trainer. Nice stress release. Felt pretty strong, which is nice.

I picked up my new running shoes yesterday! Woo hoo! They are so pretty. Mizuno 9's. White with red trim. Excited to test them out tomorrow. I will have a new spring in my step.

Hee, that's what I thought, Susan! Sometimes the photo catches me with my shorts riding up my pasty white thigh, and it looks horrible!

These, well, they weren't so bad.

Also, my boyfriend is a goober. Check out what he made:

That cracks me up!! Love it! The question now is....what are you going to do with it??

Pasty white thighs?? You live in California! I thought only us Yanks were supposed to have pasty white thighs

P.S. CL non-running moment to share -- I made my first homemade ceasar salad dressing last night for dinner! A big success. Very excited.

I already posted it in my blog, which is what any good internet dweeb would do. :o

And while I do live in California, the sun only shines outdoors. Ha! Besides, when I'm outside, I'm wearing...running shorts! That means I have a wicked farmers tan going.

Mmm, caesar salad! I'm making a stew with ground beef and blackeyed peas tonight. It's from a WW cookbook - it seems easy, hopefully it will taste good, too.

Aahhh! I had a good long post going, and it disappeared :( I don't feel like rewriting it. The high points, as they were:

1. Elizabeth, I'm very sorry to hear about your injury :( You've got great advice about the bikes. If you'd like some websites with product reviews, info, etc., let me know. And if you know someone knowledgeable about bikes to take to the store(s) with you, so much the better. Not necessary, but it can help. A good bike store will take all the time it takes to make sure you're comfortable with a bike - fit-wise, price-wise, and lifestyle-wise. Accept nothing less :)

2. Seathyme, hope things calm down for you soon. I can understand why walking and yoga are therapeutic right now. Does Rocky do yoga too? ;)

3. Eva, good to hear from you!

4. Scout, nice pics and moving image!

5. My mini-report: trained yesterday (bike, weights, lots of walking), and today did a group run (45-50 mins. in drizzle that fortunately didn't freeze, but was a bit slippery at times). I like the group and enjoyed the post-run (healthy) cookies that the running store owner made for us :D

6. Hi to everyone else and good night to all! I need to sleep early tonight after staying up so late watching the election last night

Elizabeth, so sorry about the stress fracture. :( I, too, hope that you will find either a new passion in biking or some new pleasure in the enforced break. It's the curse of running that it's so hard to avoid injury -- it's a bummer to be sidelined for so long. Just think how great you'll feel when you can start back up...

Les, how's the ankle?

Scout, great pics! Your BF's composite is very cute.

Natasha, I thought about you last night watching election results. Canadian politics are so much more interesting than American. My FIL (in Toronto) is delighted by the NDP gains, including a victory for his own candidate. Glad you got in your group run today, even in the rain.

Susan, I hope life gets simpler for you again. I do know how it can get in the way of what really matters -- running!

Great yoga day here. I'm starting to feel like a VRB imposter, though, so I promise to go for a run tomorrow!

Leslie Ferguson
01-24-2006, 09:16 PM
scout - That's a hoot! I like what BF did - certainly more of a computer geek than I am (of course that's not too hard). And oh how I know about a wicked farmer's (or is that a runner's) tan. I've got the white ankle, shorts and tank top line most of the summer. :)
seathyme - We'll take you up on a run tomorrow. ;) Life... what a concept. I hadn't thought to ask if Rocky did yoga with you too - how about it? Or is it a little to sedate for him? ;)
Natasha - Don't you just hate it when your computer eats your post? I know I do. How do you feel about the election in Canada? I kind of miss not having my favorite Canadian Naval Officer in my office to really find out how things are going up north. Hope you get some good rest and I'm glad you had a good workout today.
Susan - Bummer about your sister and dad - I hope things are ok with them. Homemade Ceasar salad and dressing - sounds scrumptuous. I hope it primes you for a good run tomorrow.

I had a successful run this evening, albeit hair raising because of my course (I ran the "wrong" direction at rush hour and got stopped at almost every light). I got just over an hour in and my ankle was pretty much ok for the whole thing. Pretty amazing because of the amount of time I spent on the concrete sidewalks. I may pay a little tomorrow but I'll just have to wait and see. For my non-running CL post I made curry this evening after running. Nothing too spicy and a flash-back to my Japan days (they make just about anything into curry). I mixed some corn and packaged chicken strips with sauted onions, garlic, ginger, curry powder, and tumeric with a little thickened chicken broth all over rice - LW loved it (not too spicy but enough of a nip to make it complex). I think I'm going to love this new job -- more time to cook.

Now is the time to hit the hay - getting late and I feel the need to sleep. Until tomorrow -- happy trails all (and even those who are luring along).

Happy trails,
Les

Seathyme - nope, not an imposter. I wish I had time to do yoga (actually what I really want is a class at 5:30 a.m. but how many yoga classes have you heard of that early in the morning. :D )

Natasha - I too thought of you when I heard about the election. Do you consider it a good thing or not as to who won?

Elizabeth - my sympathies. Just thinking about that sounds painful. (I was told that my calf issues were the result of a stress fracture - which FWIW I think was a load of c$$p but I digress.) Did your do say whether swimming is something that you could do?

Terri - hey you out there? I know I see you on the exercisers board. How much longer? A couple of months I think.

My running story for the week. Yesterday I ran extremely early in the morning (like 4:00 a.m.) because I had to catch a morning flight to LA. As I ran I saw a neighborhood gentleman who always walks. He is an older Indian man and he is mostly blind (he carries a walking stick with him). Sometimes he is by himself and sometimes his wife walks with him. This time I saw him and a small dog. At first I wasn't sure it was him because of the dog and I crossed the street. Well, the dog (a small poodle type) ends up coming running right behind me as happy as can be. I thought I'd run a little and he'd turn around and go back. Nope. Three miles later with me going back to my house, he's still there. Very friendly and playful. I got him some water and tried to put him in the backyard but he kept whining so I left the gate open. I took a quick shower, found him, and loaded him on my lap to search for the Indian gentleman. Could not find him. Now there is a gas station near my house and I'm pretty sure they know the man so I was going to take the dog there, but they weren't open yet. I stopped another runner and he said the man lived by the gas station. I took the dog up there hoping he would lead me to the house. By this time, I REALLY need to get going, so I (am ashamed to admit) left the dog in the neighborhood I was told the man lived in. The dog tried to follow the car. I was feeling very guilty when I packed my stuff but when I drove out of my street I saw the dog running with two female joggers. I stopped them and explained that I thought the dog belonged to the blind man and that they should take him to the gas station and ask. I was just glad the little guy was with some other people. Don't know what happened to him, but I have a feeling he probably got returned to his owner.

Mary - OK, first, I would've slept in & gone straight to the airport! Very impressed that you snuck a run in. Next, that puppy story is too cute. Sounds like he wants to run w/everyone. I'm sure he & his owner reconnected. I think everyone in your neighborhood is keeping an eye out for him.

Seathyme - We want you hanging around here regardless of how much you're running. Maybe some of your good, zen, yoga vibes can be eminated throughout the group! I'm picturing Rocky in a downward dog :-) (have you ever posted a picture of him?? I actually don't remember what he looks like)

Les - Glad the curry was a hit. I've been trying to cut back on spiciness levels of my cooking lately at DH's request. I guess I got carried away a few times last week, & forget that his tastebuds are a bit more sensitive than mine. Had sushi last week & tried abalone for the 1st time. Have you ever had it? Have to say it wasn't the best texture I've ever tried.

Just got back from a 40-min run. Didn't feel like going, so am very glad I did. I made myself go out in order to be back for a meeting....that just got canceled. I guess the running gods are looking out for me today :-)

That's exactly what I was thinking! Although sleeping until even 7:00 is hardly "sleeping in" to me. :o :o

I met up with my running group last night, and we had planned to do 5 miles. It was just me, the group leader, and one other gal - the two of them are both much faster than me. It was a warm evening, but there was a pretty strong headwind starting out, so I saw them up ahead of me turn around at the 2 mile mark instead of going to 2.5. We all decided that the 2 miles against the wind added an extra 1/2 mile to our effort. ;)

The second half, I really pushed myself to keep pace with them. They told me to slow down the pace if I wanted, but I always feel bad making people wait for me, and because it was getting dark, I think they didn't want to leave me too far behind. So we ended up doing 4 miles, at just over a 10:00 pace, which is fast for me. So even though it was a shorter-than-planned workout, it was harder-than-planned, so I guess we're even. :)

Aggie - I like your logic re: the wind! BTW, I'm pretty impressed at you getting out there a few times this week. I'd still be using the ol' "recovery" card :-)

<geez, I'm chatty today.> OK, one more thought on that last note....

I'm reading a tri training book right now that talks about the very first period of training for the season is "preparing to train." I have completely latched onto this concept & keep telling DH "I'm just preparing to train." I think this phase is only supposed to last a few weeks, but I'm going to ride it out as long as I can :-)

Terri - hey you out there? I know I see you on the exercisers board. How much longer? A couple of months I think.

Hi Mary and all VRB's! I just sat down and read the whole thread. I like to keep up with all of your training (and adventures!) Yes, I am still here...Baby boy is due 5/30 so I still have a good 4 mos to go. So far I am still Spinning with very little problem (except the bladder) so that is awesome. I'm looking forward to returning to running SOME DAY...!

My running story for the week. Yesterday I ran extremely early in the morning (like 4:00 a.m.) because I had to catch a morning flight to LA... I stopped them and explained that I thought the dog belonged to the blind man and that they should take him to the gas station and ask. I was just glad the little guy was with some other people. Don't know what happened to him, but I have a feeling he probably got returned to his owner.
Wow! You're a better person than I. I'm with Susan and Eva, I'd be in bed until the time to go to the airport. Neat story about the dog and I bet it is fine - just loves following female runners. ;)
Susan - Yes, you were chatty today, but that's ok there was a lot to say or at least things pertinent to the thread. It's been a long time since I've had abalone and most certainly a long time since I've had it as sushi/sashimi. The texture does stick out in my mine as something you grow into. I've got to remember "planning to train" for my coach and see what he says about that one. ;) I doubt he'd buy it. Great job on your 40 minute run and the cancelled meeting - sometimes good things come to those who wait.

Eva - Great run for you too, especially this soon after your race.

Terri - I figured you were still out there - I'm glad you're still able to spin without too many issues. We'll be thinking of you as the big day approaches.

I had an ok workout tonight - I didn't get out for my run but it was windy and cool so discretion is the better part of valor and I didn't need to risk not getting over this cold/sinusitis. To top it off I did have to go to church this evening (I'm the lead guitar player at our contemporary worship service on Wednesdays) so I only got ~52 minutes of spinning in but that's better than 0.

I think the increased rest I've been getting has been helpful in licking the cold and also helping my ankle to recover so I'll sign out now and see you tomorrow. Until then...

Happy trails,
Les

Terri - Good to hear from you. Glad spinning is still going well. You will have the healthiest pregnancy ever! (and a future little Lance Armstrong, I think). I'd like to request that you have a late delivery, so I can share a b-day w/your little one (that would be 6/7 :-)

Les - Could you possibly have more going on in your schedule?! I didn't know you played guitar at your weekly church services. Very fun (actually, i do think you've mentioned it, but it's been a while)

My training plan today was to spin, and oddly enough I'm in the mood for it. But, DH is "stealing" the bike from me to go ride outside. Still too cold for me to ride outside. Harumpf! So, I will run instead. It's beautiful weather, so will be nice.

Flying Pig - I was kinda bold yesterday & PM'd the BB adminstrator to tell her about our little not-so-virtual meeting. I told her we'd be very proud & happy to don CL gear at the race. She's looking into shirts or hats or something that she can send our way :-) I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for informing the CL staff aobut our IRL running buddies event. I was wondering how to go about that (and maybe get an interview for the magazine in the process) so thanks for your efforts. I really enjoy playing guitar and haven't done enough of it in the past years (I'm really out of practice but it's coming back slowly but surely).

I'm not feeling up to much of anything right now - I'm really fighting a cold/the flu hard and my energy level is about negative 50. Darn LW - she was sick all of last week ;) and now I'm in the tank with a head cold etc. It's so bad right now that when I get up from my desk there's a little positional vertigo going on so maybe discretion will be the better part of valor today and I'll rest to give my bod some time to recuperate. Besides, it's quite cool out and windy too. I think at last check the temp was ~41 and the winds were ~18-25 mph (BRRRR).

Check you all later this evening.

Happy trails,
Les

I'll confess there was no workout today. I wasn't feeling any better this evening when I got home -- quite lightheaded (not the norm either), lethargic, and a little sick to my stomach. I'm fighting off the crud/cold/flu but it's not going without a fight. I came home and played "squirrel in the street" in the recliner and I'm headed to bed before 11. I hope that will help me lick this thing because I don't like being sick (like anybody does).

Maybe it's better considering there's a 25k race on Saturday. Of course if I'm not better then that will be an easy long run as opposed to a race but that's for tomorrow to decide. So until tomorrow and a new thread...

Happy trails,
Les
