Hi all,

My DH and I are going to a friends house this weekend and I wanted to take choc covered strawberries. I did a search and saw that some people used cream and others used shortening in the chocolate. How much would I use and what is better. Would I do the same with white chocolate. Also, I wanted to make some using peanut butter chips...what would I use in those?

TIA!
Anita

My sister make the best chocolate covered strawberries. She startes by washing and COMPLETELY drying the strawberries. It's very important that they are dry. Then on a double boiler she melts one bag of good quality chocolate. She adds about 1-2 tablespoons of shortening to smooth the chocolate even more. Then she starts dipping, and laying the already dipped strawberries on wax papper and then chill. Then she melts white chocolate and drizzels it across the milk or dark chocolate. YUM! They are so good with champagne. I'm not sure about the peanutbutter chips, sorry.

I have coated things with white chocolate chips before - the melting instructions were on the back. It said to add a little oil (or crisco). So, if noone has a definite answer for you, you can probably figure it out from the package.
