I finally bit the bullet and bought the new TransFIRMer package from Target this weekend. It comes with three DVDs, I popped the first one in and to be honest I am lost......this is really my first time on a step and they are GOING WAY to fast, It isn't that I am unable to do the rountine because I am winded or out of breath, I really can't figure out what the heck they are doing! I don't claim to be the most coordinated person in the word, but still... Is there some sort of step aerobics for Dummies DVD or something for newbies like myself? I just need to learn the basic steps! Suggestions, Please :) I don't want the Firm to end up like my AbRoller and other equipment that eventually made it's way out to the curb!
TIA!

Katy,
I was the same way but it does get easier! When I first started with the Firm I only used the larger half of the box and I would constantly rewind to learn a step. It's also a good idea to watch in slow motion to get a better idea of the moves. That Ultimate Cardio Blaster is just a killer! The other 2 are much easier to follow.

oh yes, don't give up! every time i get a new Firm video i am bit lost as well, but my FIRST video i was REALLY LOST! once you pick up on the terms, etc. it will be easier and the more you do it the better you get. i could do all mine now with my eyes shut :) stick with it...gotta at least give it ten workouts :) GOOD LUCK! and come post on the DVD/at home exercisers thread if you need more inspiration!

Question -
Two actually. Katygirl, how much was the package at Target? I see the website offers it for $60, was the target price better?
Second - how long do the workouts tend to be? I'm struggling this year. I'm a fulltime grad student working full time and I'd like to get some exercise in but it just ain't happening. I'm looking for something (vaguely) fun yet effective I can do at home (on the weekends if never any other time). THis sounds like it might be it, how long do most workouts last?
Also, how difficult to store is the transfirmer thing. I live in a pretty small apartment....
Thanks,
sneezles

Cardio Blaster 45 minutes
Aerobic Body Shaping 55 minutes
Supercarged Sculpting 30 minutes
these are the 3 that come with the Transfirmer

Thanks, guys! I'm glad I am not the only one that was confused at first. I think I got a couple more steps down last night, and I am not even going to look at their arms until I get the feet down!
helios7, I looked around a bit on the interent and succumed to to the fact that I was going to have to spend about $60.00 to get it. Target was the same, $59.99 but because there were no shipping costs it was much cheaper than ordering online.

I have not tried the Firm step aerobics stuff.....but, I used to take a lot of step classes when I was in college. Here is my philosophy.......As long as you are moving, you are doing your body some good. Drop the hands and just concentrate on getting the steps down, and eventually you will get it. Soon you will get part of the routine down enough to add hand, then another part, and another part......it will come to you.

Maybe it's hard at first but it will get easier after a couple of trainings. What do you think? Perhaps you just need time to get used to it?

So true! I did a whole tape last night. I probably only did about 1/4 of it correctly but I tried! My bum and my thighs and even my belly are a bit sore today so I must have been doing something right!

I just got a two pack Transfirmer series pack from Target for $24.95. ( two pack but has more than one workout per disc) It doesn't come with the equipment but I always just imprevise with what I have.
In the end 3 full workouts with 3 bonus short workouts wasn't bad for $25.
It did say the pack was a Target exclusive.
Aerobic Body Shaping- 55 min.
Supercharged Sculpting-30 min.
Leg workout- 8 min.
Stretch-12 min.
Ultimate Calorie Blaster-45 min.
Abds- 8 min.
The nice thing about the Firm is that you can adjust the workout to your level. As you improve you can up the weights and moves. Can you tell I'm a Firm believer. :p

Glad to hear it got better!!! I'm a true FIRM believer :D and please feel free, as Sweetpea said, to drop in on the DVD/At Home Exercisers thread - there are several of us who are FIRMies as well as others who use other tapes/DVD's to exercise. We're a fun bunch! :D

Please tell me if any of you do your Firm/transfirmer work out in limited space, or use a regular step aerobic step to do the workout. I am contemplating the purchase but I am not sure if it is worth it.

Lorena, i have VERY limited space. about 5 ft by 5 ft. space and my weights take up part of that. and i still get good workouts in using the transfirmer. it's actually easier with the transfirmer since i can just leave it in one spot and put it in the incline position (sometimes they have you put it on the left side on incline and sometimes you move it over to the right--not enough room so i leave it in one position.) and alot of the moves are just around the incline, etc. so you don't have to use alot of space. but then again, i'm a die hard Firmie too :)

I use my own step. It's gotta be over 15yrs old. Between that, my weights, and my DD chair (used for the fanny lifter) I manage to do all the Firm tapes without buying any equipment.
