I'm in the throes of a nasty head cold. It was a quick onset. Luckily I've got my CL issue about fighting colds with foods. So far, I've eaten a raw clove of garlic, taken a dose of Vitamin C, drank a couple of mugs of tea. Right now I'm chowing down on a bowl of chicken soup (Thank goodness I made a huge batch on the weekend). I crushed a couple of cloves of garlic and put it into the soup for extra benefit.
I feel like a walking scientific experiment. The chicken soup seems to be slowing down the nasal drip. Raw garlic makes me feel perkier, less sick. I don't know about the Vitamin C or the tea. The only remedy I haven't tried yet is the hot toddy and that's because I don't have brandy. But that's on my list for tomorrow.
If I'm ranting it's because it's 3am, and I can't get to sleep because of this idiotic cold. Oh well. Night folks.

Hi Lily, I'm in Day 8 of the nasty headcold. I feel your pain.

Good luck on those home remedies. I hope you can get some sleep. I find it easier to sleep kind of propped up, with a box of tissues within arm's reach!

I've also been doing the nasal rinsing and steaming my head. They provide some relief. Feel better! Martha

I hope you are feeling better soon! I am currently working my way through a pot of chicken soup, I have lost count of how many colds I have had this season. I guess it is an occupational hazard (I am a preschool teacher) but it seems to be worse this year than usual (I also seem to have more kids who come to school obviously sick this year, so I would guess that is a big contributing factor). I haven't tried the raw garlic, so that is interesting to hear. I think Vitamin C helps. I think the hot toddies help, but maybe that is just because it puts me to sleep ;)
