Did anyone else watch? I missed the past few seasons because I thought they were boring but caught last nights ep hoping it would be better.
I loved that a Young tribe lost the Crackin' Skulls reward challenge.
YOUNGER GUYS -- Idiots. Why were they trying to build a fire IN their water pot? Did they even get a fire started? How were they going to boil their water if they did? And the yoga guy? Yeah, he's gonna be real popular with the rest of the boys if he keeps up that 'can you feel the energy' crap.
OLDER WOMEN -- 1. Get a freakin' haircut! My hair is really fine and a light breeze can turn it into a rat's nest, so my head would be shaved the day before we left if I were on the show. 2. You're afraid of leaves? I agree with what Way Too Much Hair Log-Rollin' Lady said -- do you know what show you're on? Why do people whose only time spent outside is going from the house to the car sign up for this show? Voting Tina out was incredibly stupid on their part. Good thing they merge with the other tribes soon, because I have the feeling those ladies are gonna be sca-rewed without her.
YOUNGER GALS -- Turtles die. Accept it and move on. Good going, Jeff. Tell them that having the 'bulk of the immunity idol' may give them more spiritual power. Now they're gonna have to listen to Mother Earth yammer on and on about it. Maybe they can use that extra spiritual power to resurrect the dead turtle.
OLDER GUYS -- Nic Fit is gonna be *loads* of fun to be around. Did anybody else notice that when they won (or didn't lose) the immunity challenge that he walked away from the rest of them instead of celebrating?
There must be a merge next week if Scared of Leaves (Dances with Wolves' fourth cousin twice removed) knows that Nic Fit wants to quit the game. I'm thinking it may not really be a merge-merge, but four separate tribes living together, or maybe two tribes (Old-Old and Young-Young), otherwise how do they decide who goes to Exile Island?
And Jeff needs a haircut too.

Loved your recap!!! :D :D Basically what I thought too.

Point of order: building the fire in the pot was a clever idea...once the fire gets going, it would be very easy to dump it out wherever you want your fire to be.
I to loved your recap, keep it going thru the season so if I miss one I can be easily caught up :D
About the fire in the water pot, I agree with Escher it could easily have been dumped, and if it was windy that would really have been a "smart" way to start the fire.

And you hold a hot burning metal pot how to carry it wherever your fire is to be? :P
I thought the show had very interesting premise. I like the idea of Exile Island. And Misty pretending she found the idol I thought was brilliant :)
Kristi your recap was right on the money! :D :D

OK I just had to laugh out loud b/c the first thing my 9 year old daughter said as she was trying to sneak a peek of the show on the way to bed was, "Jeff needs a hair cut!"

Preferably with the forearms. You may call me Caine, grasshopper.

I thought Misty way overacted the idol thing. If she had really found it, she would not have said anything because she would know that she was safe.
KristiB - loved your recap too!

Does anyone want to wager on what season it will be when someone finally hacks him or herself with the machete? I thought the young guy trying to light the fire was going to lose a finger.
I was really hoping the older women were not going to lose the immunity challenge. It was not a good decision to dig up the plans IMO. And I really think they were dumb not voting off Scared of Leaves.
So how old do you think these "older" people are? Two of those "older" women look pretty young. DH and I are guessing that the cutoff might be 35, which is young IMO. I felt bad for Scared of Leaves when she was saying that she thought she was a younger woman. I wish someone would have said to her, "Really, you are. Only for Survivor purposes you're not."

My evil side hopes Scared of Leaves sticks around for a food challenge-where the food has 6-8 legs.
I forgot to mention her pixilated boobs.
On the other hand I wish I could forget her pixilated boobs.

LOL
Loved your recap... it's right on the money I think.
I hope next week Jeff starts calling the tribes by their names. The older-younger thing got a little annoying.
Tribal council was not as exciting with only four, I wonder how far they're going to let the tribes fall apart before merging? And the guy with the nicotine withdrawel...Hello? You knew you were going to be on the show, you couldn't cut back BEFORE getting dropped on a deserted island?

What I like about the four tribe thing is that no one gets to "hide" being silent. Every season there has been several people who slide into the jury by keeping quiet, working and never getting involved with personality issues (now I know, that could all be with editing and you can't know everything that happens in three days condensed into 1 hour, blah, blah, blah). In the older women's tribe all those women had to get involved in the discussion at tribal council. Personalities came out right away when only a small group has each other to survive.
I love the younger men being all together. The young men each season never want to work and they always want to be the cool frat boys. Too bad this time, studs, you'll actually have to rely on each other. HA! I hope they keep them separated for several shows.
This has great potential.

My thought exactly about the cigarette smoker.
They could let the tribes dwindle down to one person. That is what happened a couple of seasons ago to that girl (I'm pulling a blank on her name).

My husband and I just laughed and laughed at that guy going cold turkey.
Off the subject:
As a non-smoker, how in the world do you have time to smoke 3 packs a day?

Thanks for the link.
Melinda in the "older women" group is only 32!!! What an ego blow.
Courtney in the "younger women" group is 31. Well, I guess we know the cut-off....or maybe not. I just did some more checking and Bobby in the "younger men" group is 32.

I bet the cutoff was simple math. When you hit four, the next four were the other group. I don't think it was really age dependent.

I forgot to mention how sad it is that Tina's 16 y.o. son just recently died, only 4 1/2 months ago!
I was just reading her bio and it turns out she was actually supposed to be on Survivor Guatemala but her son died just a week before she was set to leave to go on the show.
I bet if she told her team about this tragedy she wouldn't have been voted off.
