I must confess that I've changed my mind about organizing the BBs into sub-categories. I think, since we're getting more and more users/messages, that it would help get through all of the stuff that interests me. Sometimes I feel like going through all of it and sometimes I don't. (Like the commercial "Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't!")At times, I just want a recipe feedback and at times I would like information on some other subject. Just my opinion. Anyone else change their mind?

Hi,

I'm not opposed to some sort of organization into subcategories (e.g., as CL had suggested, ISO, 911, Tips & Techniques, Forums ...). I would miss the spontaneity of the current set-up, but it would be neater, and would probably speed things up (and maybe minimize technical difficulties?).

This has no impact on what I've said above, but I think that it might be hard to keep the subcategories ENTIRELY discrete, because of how threads develop. For example, a person may post enthusiastic feedback for a recipe, and another person may ask for that recipe to be posted. I'm not sure it would make sense for the second person to have to start a new post under the ISO subcategory for that recipe, instead of just posting the request in reply to the feedback post. What do you guys think? Is that what would be expected if the subcategories were set up?

It also might be hard to decide where to put certain items, depending on how the subcategories were chosen. I would hope that there would be a Miscellaneous catchall-type subcategory for any tidbits that people wanted to share (You guys are such a fountain of information!).

These are fairly minor points - my main concern with subcategories is the suggestion that the forum questions be chosen on a weekly basis by CL. I think that the ad hoc surveys, intro thread, etc. are some of the most fun things this board has to offer. It would be a shame if they were curtailed to this extent.

I guess my conclusion is that subcategories could well be an improvement over what we have now, subject to these concerns. Sorry this is so long-winded.

I agree with Natasha. I didn't post my opinion on the last thread related to this topic; however, I have the same concerns about how a thread develops and how categories can get intermixed. Hopefully CL will keep that in mind.

I would love to see an archive of the recipes that are posted. That way you don't have to search through all the threads.
