I'm just about to put a Smithfield Lean Generation pork tenderloin into the oven- but I've got reservations... I got it last Sunday. I normally don't keep meat this long (usually 2-3 days max), but just didn't have the opportunity to make it till now. So it's been in the fridge. It was in its Smithfield factory sealed package. The store sell by date was Feb 22, and when we peeled the store label, we could see that the Smithfield stamped label said "use by Feb 22." So I'm thinking that it should be ok... but if I put my nose right close to it, it smells a bit off. Not reeking, just a bit off. Any experience with this? TIA for your opinions. Would prefer to avoid food poisoning! :o

I think you should be fine if the sell by date is the 22nd and it remained in the sealed package. Pork tenderloin often smells stronger to me than say a plain pork chop, but that's just me. I wouldn't chance it if you are really nervous about it, though. Hope this helps.

I, too, think this is safe to eat.
