Hi all -- I've heard such great things of Penzey's, I'm determined to place an order. I'm looking for suggestions of spices or blends for easy and quick dinners. Something I can just stir into a jar of pasta sauce, or rub into chicken/fish for baking or sprinkle for microwaved veggies?

I'd like to cut down on takeout and make more at home; hopefully this would be the way to do it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Heres my quick, good, fallback, everynight or company chicken. Really its excellent, quick, moist and tender. Only drawback, it might be to spicy for kids??

Curry Chicken coating

4 boneless chx breasts
1 tea hot curry powder
1/8 tea cinnamon
1/4 tea black or red pepper or smoky paperika
2 tea flour
Pre heat oven to 400
Put all ingred. except chx in a plastic bag, shake to mix and add chx and shake. Put on a cookie sheet and bake 10 min. ( a min or 2 more if very thick)

Rub Bicentennial Rub on chicken or other meat and roast (not the fastest cooking method, but simple and cooks while you do other things).

Foxpoint and a drizzle of olive oil tossed in a ziploc bag makes great roasted veggies (I'm on a green bean kick right now -- with sliced red bell pepper, even better). Foxpoint also jazzes up rice or potatoes (mashed and twice baked esp).

Their Old World Seasoning is much like Lawry's seasoned salt without all the salt.

Pasta Sprinkle can be added to hot cooked pasta with a drizzle of oilive oil or some butter, but it is also a quick way to make a fresh sauce. I use a couple slices of bacon and a similar amount of chopped onion cooked together in a skillet (add garlic if you have fresh), then add crushed tomatoes and maybe a can of diced tomatoes, some red wine, pasta sprinkle, garlic powder is you didn't have fresh or need more, a pinch of chili powder (sometimes make it with and sometimes without) a little salt or sugar if needed to adjust. Simmer while the pasta cooks and let it reduce a bit (reason for a wide open pan). It's one of our emergency meals.

I like their 4S seasoning (its basically seasoned salt) on roasted veggies. And, I am obsessed with the smoked spanish paprika! I put it in mexican dishes, chilis and soups. I just got the Fox Point and it is delicious in tuna salad (which I am about the make for lunch right now!)
Enjoy Penzeys! I love them.

i second beth with the bicentennial rub- i forgot about that until she mentioned it. i just rub it on chicken breasts and then throw them on my george foreman grill.
i also love florida seasoned pepper sprinkled on veggies after steaming esp broccoli. my friend made the chicken recipe from the label and we loved it. she made it so i don't know how quick it would be.
