So I've been trying to avoid the BB because I hadn't gotten my June issue and I like to be surprised when I get it and not know all the recipes from seeing posts. I figured that CL was witholding my issue so it would arrive on my birthday, which was yesterday and I was right! I came home to find it and figured I would read it cover to cover as my birthday treat but I didn't see even a single recipe I want to try! How can this be? I've never had this happen in all my years as a subscriber! I know there was another post about the issue being disappointing and now I know why. Was it just me or was it all either beef, pork or stuff with corn? (None of which I eat much.) Granted I normally tend to make mostly desserts but I didn't even see a single dessert I'd bother with. So for those of you who haven't gotten your June issue yet - ya ain't missin much! (Sorry to whine!)

Happy Birthday

Peeps, try looking through the different posts. There seem to be a lot of converts from "this issue sucks" to "after I saw the review I tried it and it was great".

Happy Birthday Peeps!

If you don't care for the June issue, then it gives you time to make other things and catch up with your "to make" recipes.

Awwww, thanks for the bday wishes!
I have been reading the June reviews now that I've lifted my self imposed moratorium but I haven't been sold on anything yet.
You're right Wendy, this does give me a chance to catch up on all the other things from other issues I want to make - in fact there is a stack of old issues on the kitchen table right now, all with recipes I need to try. I just had to whine there for a second, thanks for indulging me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEEPS!

You aren't the only one...I think the June issue was the quickest read I've experienced since I started subscribing to CL! Although thanks to this BB I've taken a few second looks! Wait for a few weeks and you'll be searching for that magazine so you can try a recipe someone is raving about that suddenly sounds good! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Happy Birthday June Baby!

Peeps, I'm inclined to agree with you. I just completed my computer list of recipes to try from this issue and there are only ten- none are desserts (I'm not a creamy, pudding-y dessert person). Compared to 27 recipes I have tried or plan to make from the May issue, June is pretty slim pickins'. I'm really trying to cut back on meat intake and I don't need another grilled chicken or pork recipe!

Tonight is the first chance I've had to make anything from June '01- the Roast Corn and Tomato Tart. The crust just came out of the oven- looks good so far!

Peeps,

Happy Birthday. What sweet treat did you have for your special day?

Thanks Val! I didn't feel like cake since I'd just had Died and Gone to Heaven cake last week so I made that Mandarin Creme Delight thing, I just had a craving for it. (And Melina - there was shoveling involved though I tried to behave and actually put it on a plate first!)

Happy Birthday Peeps!
I got my June issue the same day you did, which was actually 1-2 weeks earlier than normal! I also tend to stay away from reviews/complaints about issues(probably because I am jealous http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif) until I get mine.. If you don't find anything you want to make, there are alot of good reads in it. Now you have the time to start on the to-make recipes from other issues. I hope you had a nice birthday! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia
