Some of you may remember my requests for help for last years luau birthday party. I had so many good responses that I thought I would throw this years party theme out as well in hopes of more help!

This year my 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter (both Buzz Lightyearaholics) are having a Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story 2 birthday party. Our guest list so far has 10 4-5 year old boys , 5 2 year old girls, and countless adults to accompany them.

Anyone have any ideas for the party theme? We are doing a lunch this year, I've got BBQ pork sandwiches (can be done in the crockpot), a good pasta salad recipe, and fruit salad. We have a chocolate layer cake for dessert (my son's request) that we will decorate with Buzz and the boys. Acutally, I've just got Buzz and Woody characters and some green army men... help here with the design?

We have a "rocket jump" reserved for the day. And for games so far I only have a "find the green army man" game. (we will hide the little guys all over the yard and have a hunt, like at easter!). Any other game ideas? Oh... we do have a pinata too.

Thank you to infinity and beyond for any tips or ideas!

Kim

Don't forget Mr. Potato Head!! A very important star of both movies and a very easy toy to pick up cheap. I would think you could hide different parts of Mr. Potato Head's HEAD in the yard also, and the first child to complete a Mr. Potato Head could win a prize! I'm picturing someone finding lips, running to the naked potato and putting the lips on, then finding ears, etc. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Just a thought...I always loved that little spud! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif

I recently read about a fun idea that goes great with a space theme. Spray paint about 50 small to medium sized rocks with silver paint and hide them around the back yard. Organize a space walk to hunt down all the moon rocks. Hope this helps.

I don't know if it's my and my current mood or my boys' love of that flat, cheesy stuff, but I instantly thought Pizza Planet! I'll have to switch gears and come back later....

Another variation on a potato head game would be to do it as a felt board or similar variation on pin the tail on the donkey.

I ran an Internet search for you and came up with this: http://www.kidspartyworld.com/pages/PartyThemes/toyStory2.html

I did a few internet searches and found some sites that might be helpful to you.

Not Toy Story specific, but there was a section about games that could be adapted to your theme. http://www.amazingmoms.com/htm/KidsBirthdayParties.htm

Have fun with your party!
