Sorry, Chefzhat! I nonchalantly returned to the boards without a recap!

The Olympics were fantastic! What an experience. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Our flights were great after my worries about flying with the Danish cartoon backlash ( don't worry I saw the cancelled thread, I have no comments :D )

We went to Mens short and long figure skating, and women's downhill skiing. We also saw a medal ceremony which my kids found fascinating. I was so glad that they saw the pagentry and respect shown to the countries and their flags. It was a medal ceremony with no Americans, I liked they saw other nations being celebrated. I loved seeing the skiing event live. I had no idea how long the course was and the the Italians can cheer for their skiers like nobody's business. The figure skating was terrific too. I have a big interest in the mens event and was thrilled to be there. We sat among Americans, French, Swiss and Russians. The cheering was unbelievably loud but everyone was so respectful and supportive of other skaters, cheering people on even after mistakes were made.

We stayed in a house in a small town outside Torino. It was one of those picturesque Italian towns. We also visited several sites in Torino- Shroud of Turin, The Dome they show every time NBC starts Olympic coverage-the dome has an amazing cinema museum inside-well worth the visit. And an abbey called St. Michel up on a cliff-scary drive!! We bought wine and chocolate. Yum! In addition we ate at restaurants, which was few and far between due to our schedule with the events. We ate alot of bread/ham/cheese at the venues.

The weather was mild- 40s and 50s but foggy and a snowstorm hit the day we left but did not affect us directly. Our kids did the best they've done on an international trip (this was their 4th). We only had one major meltdown 3 days after we got there (No, it was not me! :D ) And the meltdown occured at the house we were staying at, not at an event or a meal!

All in all, a fabulous time and I'd do it again in a minute!!
