Hi All;

Well this year marks my 7th year for participating in this event. It is for the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org/docroot/par/content/PAR_1_Relay_For_Life.asp).

The first year I walked for my Dad and his best friend Don French. Both were diagnosed with prostate cancer. My father survived, Don did not. He passed away within 6 months.

The next time I walked for Lynn O'Connor who is a breast cancer survivor and Linda Crowell. Linda had breast cancer 23 years ago. 12 years ago she started chemo for ovarian cancer and survived. 8 years ago she started chemo for stomach cancer and survived. 5 years ago she got intestinal cancer and survived.

3 years ago I walked for my sister in law who died of lung cancer.

2 years ago I walked for my uncle who got pancreatic cancer. He passed away too.

Last year I walked for Anita Greenawalt and Anita Watson. AG died of pancreatic cancer and AW died of colon cancer.

This year...well this year I walk for Linda Crowell again. She started chemo again on Friday. Her stomache cancer is back.

Why this morbid post? Well I would like for you to donate...see if co-workers are walking in a local Relay for Life walk in your area and sponser them....PLEASE! If you don't have someone in your area walking, and you'd like to donate send the checks to me. Make them payable to the American Cancer Society and put Relay for Life in the memo. PM me and I'll give you my address.

My walk will start on Saturday March 25th and end on Sunday March 26th. Me and my co-workers will be out there for 24 hours. This year, post those you love that have passed on..I walk for them. I walk for you.

Thank you for your post. It's not morbid, cancer is a reality. I participate in our Relay for Life, here and wish you all the best! God bless you for participating!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'll add my Aunt Christy who had her 5th round of chemo in a series of 8 yesterday for breast cancer, my granny who died of pancreatic cancer, my grandpa who died of leukemia (a form of cancer) and my grandma who died of lung and brain cancer.

I may be in touch about donating if nobody I know here is doing it.

My dear friend Kathy Hargrave passed away last month from colorectal cancer, and my good friend Alida is a breast cancer survivor. One of our own CLBB members Lisalee just started chemo last week. I don't know anyone doing it here, so I will PM you. Thank you for doing this.

I now walk for Aunt Chrissy
I now walk for Robyn's Grandfather
I now walk for Kathy Hargrave
I now walk for Alida
I now walk for Lisalee

Each of these names I am putting on my t-shirt. I will also purchase a luminary for each of them and light their candles. They are paper bags we decorate and they fill them with sand and put a candle in them. When it gets dark they light them and turn off all the lights. The music stops, the games end and everyone walks in silence. It is so incredibly moving. I usually end up crying the entire time during that part.

Kudos to you!
I just found out about a HS friend, younger than I (32), who is having a double mascetomy due to breast cancer.

As for children I know who have or have died from cancer, the list is too long for a t-shirt (I work a summer camp for these children). If you'd like, you could say the past, present, and future campers of Camp Esperanza, though of course the hope is that in the future, there will be no need for Camp Esperanza!

I'm making my T-shirt this weekend and will keep adding names. I will wear it the entire time while walking and will get some pictures to share with you all :)

I'm walking for my SIL Teri, who is still fighting breast cancer. Hopefully, we will be able to walk together.

Today (actually the 29th :) ) is her birthday and I just finished baking her a Chocolate Sour Cream Layer Cake and got out the kit so that I could do the decorations. The fact that she's with us this year is well worth the 4 hours of baking and fiddling with homemade frosting.

I will be honored to add Teri to my shirt as well :) I'm putting Survivors on the front so they will always look forward with hope. I'm putting those that have past on, on the back so that I may pick up their burden and carry it forward.
