Search limitations

I just tried to do a search for fig bars, and fig was dis-allowed, because it is only 3 letters. On another forum I frequent, I know that the administrator is able to make exceptions for the three letter limit. Can you make "fig" an exception (and any other 3 letter food words, but none come to mind immediately)? Thanks.

You can use an asterix for some combinations

fig* bars worked when I tried it

Thanks, Joe. That's my usual fix, but for some reason it didn't work when I tried it yesterday (I did get results, but it didn't include some recent threads that had discussed fig bars :confused: ).

If anybody from CL is reading this forum, I just thought of another 3 letter food word that ought to be searchable: oil.

How about "jam" and "pit" (like, "make sure you pit the cherries"). Also, "egg," "ham," "BBQ," "tea"--there are LOADS of three-letter ingredients or recipe topics. Since I'm new and didn't see this three-letter-word thing in the FAQ, what's the difficulty for the search engine w/three-letter words?

dogzncats, I'm glad that you added to my list. I think the thing with the three letter word limit is to save "computer power" so that time isn't wasted on searching for the, of, and other common words.

If anybody else can think of 3 letter food words, please chime in! The only additional one I've come up with is wok.

Upon further review, I suggest the following:

nut
vin (as in coq au vin)
yam
pea (as in pea soup, chick pea)
oat (oat bread, oat flour)
soy (soy nuts, soy flour)
rye (etc.)
cod
