My good friend is getting married next month and is currently going crazy. Her fiance and her just moved into thier new home and so she is trying to get her wedding taken care of as well as trying to cook for him every night. I thought it would be a good idea to maybe send her some food gifts, but I'm at a loss.

I want to be able to mail them to her so they can't be perishable. I was thing some breads maybe, but I wasn't sure which ones would mail well. I was thinking maybe the grahm cracker bread.

Also, does anyone have any good recipies for soups in a jar type of things? I tried searching, but I couldn't come up with much.

I don't want to do the cookie/brownie mix thing because her fiance is a serious health nut and can't stand to have any of that stuff in the house.

Any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated. I want this to be homemade because I don't want her to feel bad about having some expensive gift basket sent to her. She has enough to worry about!

I know you said you said you want your gift to be homemade, but the first thing that I thought of was a nice basket from Penzeys. (www.penzeys.com) I order from them quite frequently, and I've seen some real nice, reasonably priced gift baskets for newlyweds. They have them in all different price ranges. That might be something she could use since they just moved. She can start off with fresh spices in a brand new house!

Here's a couple of places you can look at for ideas.

I know you said homemade too - but what about food from Omaha Steaks. They have some cheaper items & quite a variety. I send them to my dad b/c he's a bachelor & doesn't cook very often.

I second Penzy's. They have great stuff already ready for shipment in all price ranges...

I'm not feeling as energetic as I was before. Maybe I will just go with Penzy's or Omaha Steaks (what a great idea, thanks!)
