Is there anything out there to reduce the number of "bottom burps" coming from our dogs? As they're getting older, they're getting worse. No changes in food or anything--just stinky whiffs of increasing quantity and, um....complexity. ;)

Are you sure your dogs aren't getting falsely accused? :D We had this "issue" in our house.

Nope, this morning it was just the dogs and I. When I opened a new carton of eggs, I thought they'd gone bad, then realized one of the dogs was standing next to me. I know it wasn't me. :p

are you giving them treats? sometimes certain treats can cause flatulance as can chew bones. i know when we first got our Collie mix, he had it bad but it was just food...but you said that it wasn't food w/your dogs - which i took to mean you hadn't changed it...

How old is your dog? As dogs get older, just as humans do, their digestive tracts can become more sensitive to certain things in foods. And this can cause the gas. Our dear Sam, when he was alive, went through 3 different formulations of the same brand of dry dog food. You know, the puppy, grown up and then senior blends? Things like that. They were all the lamb and rice blends and bought at Petco. One good thing about a place like Petco is they will take back opened packages of dog food. So if you try a new food, and it doesn't work or doggie doesn't like it, they will let you return it. Of course, buy the smallest bag you can to try it out on your doggie. Petco then makes samples of the opened bag for cutomers to take home and try with their dogs.
Anyway, try a new food, possibly for older dogs. And get the good stuff. I believe we used Nature's Recipe. Real good stuff. :D

Our one dog has severe food allergies, and the only thing he can eat is duck and potato food. Believe me, it's the good stuff--$50 every three weeks. Sometimes I think he eats better than we do. ;)
I suspect it's just age. They do get chew bones, and I can't imagine taking them away. They both dance around and act like crazy children when they think it's "that time."
I know Beano works for humans, but I'm guessing it wouldn't help with the dogs. :o

Actually, I know a woman that uses Beano on her Great Dane, she swears by it!

Our Greyhound gets a spoonful of yogurt with each meal. One of the "Dogs for Dummies" books had this tip. He still has his "burps", but not as bad or as frequent. Good luck!!

I can be of no help whatsoever (we have a cat) but thought you might enjoy one of our favorite books on this very subject. It is Walter the Farting Dog, written by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray and illustrated by Audrey Coleman. It is the story of Walter, who also has a flatuence problem, and how he comes to be a hero because of it. It is a really cute children's story.
Good luck with your dog.

Do make sure the problem isn't a health issue--. And if you try the yogurt solution, make sure that you use the "real" kind with all the good active bactria in it.

I get the whole dog journal, its a monthly subscription and has great articles on everything from health issues to training, etc. There was an article last year titled "Gas attack" how to deal with your dogs flatulence. If you want, you can PM me and I can fax or mail you the article.
