Any cross stitchers out there, have you ever heard of this?

My girlfriend has a denim shirt cross-stitched for each holiday! With limited closet space, I thought I might try a different idea. I want to get the plastic canvas circles or squares, and put a holiday "pocket piece" cross-stitched on aida cloth, using the circle as a backing, then velcro the plastic canvas onto the shirt. That way, I could have a shirt for all seasons! Do you think this would work?

I think it would work, but I think it's going to look more like you are wearing a pin instead of actual stitching on the shirt. If you put the velcro on the shirt you would have to have a stitching on. Otherwise the shirt velcro would show.

If you want to make it a little easier, you could stitch your pattern onto plastic aida cloth (or perforated paper), back it with sticky felt and add a pin back to the sticky felt with hot glue.

It would be more work, but maybe you could do the design on the aida cloth, bind the edges with a bit of matching denim and put snaps around the pocket and patch--I haven't looked for them for years, but you used to be able to get some small ones that you would hand stitch onto your clothing.
