DH and I decided to start taking some vitamins and supplements. We both have elevated cholestrol. Here's what we took:
Premium performance multivitamin - Premium is supposed to = high energy
1290 Fish Oil Concentrate Xtra strength- 850mg fish oil w/440 mg Omega 3's (this is supposed to help the cholestrol)
I also took 1000 mg of calcium, DH took glucosamin/MSM
Anyway, I feel awful today. Went to work and came home. Feel nauseated, bloated, crampy, chills. Would taking this stuff make me feel like cr@p?
Caveat: There is a flu buggie of sorts going around too.... :(
Just curious....but I think I'll skip the vitamins today, doubt my stomach could handle them.

Call your doctor.

How long have you been taking the supplements?
Reliable brand?
The dosages you list don't look bad....it sounds like the flu.
Still, fish oil can go rancid if not stored properly, but that wouldn't give you the symptoms you've listed.
It could be food poisoning too.
Hope you feel better soon!

It wouldn't account for chills, but also you should be careful not to take vitamins on an empty stomach---I know plenty of people who wind up with a stomach ache nad feeling terrible and miserable if they don't eat something before taking their vitamins (myself included, says the woman who takes a palmful---I think I'm up to 15 or 17 pills?--every morning.....) It sounds more like the flu, but either way I hope you feel better!
I too would say it could be possible until I got to the chills. Sounds like a virus or possibly food poisioning.
When you do get to feeling like taking the supplements again, take them with food to avoid possile stomach upset.

Susan,
I doubt if supplements can cause those symptoms...did you take your fish oils with food? If I take certain brands I get an upset stomach, but more like burping up fish...yuck! I take Nordic Naturals EPA and DHA strawberry and lemon flavor....plus I take about 15 different ones each day; but it is a good idea to start each new one separately and then add on a new one every few days.
Also, my boss is a hormone expert, here's a link to his cholesterol article if you're interested:

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! For those of you who voted "flu", I think you won. After laying down and being miserable all day I finally got ill and then promptly felt better. Jeez, I'm such a paranoid.
I am going to try the supplements today after I eat. But if this happens again, I'm done with them! ;)
PS: I took all of them with food on Sunday. That's why I was wondering how on earth it could have been them when it was almost 24 hours later.
Anyway, thanks again!

Glad you're feeling better.
Food poisoning can take as long as 24 hours...FYI.
Thanks for reporting back!!
(Flu is a respiratory virus. People commonly say "stomach flu" when they mean a stomach virus or bug....not a lung disease :D ;) ).
Glad you are feeling better.
