I thought it was a really good episode, though some of them really seemed to be struggling with the 2 dishes in 7 minutes. Given some of the dishes, I'm not surprised. But Nathan, the professional chef not being able to plate ANYTHING? I was very surprised. I think with last night's elimination, it's definitely tougher to choose, but I think I'm leaning towards Andy (love his generous spirit and quiet nature) and Guy (totally fills an empty hole on the network). Guy's so fun and my next stop is to see if they put up his recipes for the Waka Waka Salad and the Rhode Island Calamari - they looked and sounded delicious. Anyone watch last night?
I watched it and really enjoyed it. I thought the pairings for the team cooking were great! Guy and Nathan both have the outgoing personalities, so they were an interesting mix. I thought Andy and Reggie did the best.
I wasn't surprised Evette was let go. After all the talk about the swap outs (and Carissa messing hers up twice), you'd think she'd remember that for her demo. I think the guys have so much more dynamic personalities than the women....and I think Carissa won't be on there much longer.

I was not surprised about Evette as well. But I knew for sure it was her halfway into the show when they showed previews for next week and she was the only one missing! It kind of spoiled the suspense a little IMHO.
I hope Nathan is the next to go. He is just too c***y for my tastes.
I like Andy and Guy the best also. I enjoy Reggie, but he may get old quick.

I was surprised to learn that they had to use recipes that they had submitted previously to the network for the contest. That was too bad because so many of those appetizers were complicated.
And I for one am glad to see Evette go. It annoys me to no end when people speak in one accent/dialect, and then switch it up for a few words, in this case the more hispanic sounding words like "sofrito". I so hope that Carissa is next. If she won I would literally turn her show off if it ever came on while I was watching.
Still pulling for Guy or Andy. I really like Andy, but his concept might be a little too "How To Boil Water" for the judges, and something already out there.

I thought most of their recipes seemed way to complicated to do two in a 7-minute demo.
And did anyone notice Carissa's recipe? She made dip in a bread bowl. I even spotted beau monde seasoning. It sure looked like the tired chipped beef thing from decades ago. They talk about her being trained in classic French cooking and then she makes dip in a bread bowl? It didn't seem very fair to have her make that while Evette is making a homemade masa. And the pairing of Carissa and Evette was sure to bomb.
Even still, I was fine with seeing Evette go. The lack of a Hispanic cooking show is a hole in the Food Network programming, but she didn't seem to have the right personality. And while I'd like to see a woman do well, I've disliked Carissa from the beginning.
At this point, I like Andy, followed by Reggie. I think Reggie is struggling because he's a pastry guy and there haven't been many pastry/dessert challenges. Nathan is just plain annoying. (Patty, I can't figure out what word of yours got bleeped!) I can't decide if I like Guy or I'm annoyed by him.
Do you guys think you could do what they are doing? I'm always putting myself in their shoes. I think I could have done the team thing, but demoing two recipes in seven minutes looked tough.

I was getting a little tired of Evette's "hand flipping". Reminds me of "whatevah".
I'm rooting for Guy. Nathan hasn't shown me much yet.

Personally, I'd like to see Carissa and Nathan ("Nate-dog" LOL) hook up and build a monster home in the hills where they could keep their egos. Carissa's got to be next to go.
I love people like Evette (I've worked with a few of them) who screw up every step of the way and then hike up their self-righteousness about what a mistake "management" was making by sending them packing.
Andy seems kind of sweet and actually competent, but I agree with the panel - he's got to dial up the personality or he'd be a snoozer to watch. Reggie could be good but I agree that he might wear thin. (But then, look at some of our "favorite" FN personalities....)
I think Guy is the only one who's truly up to the task. I might even watch him if he cut out the "I'm a restaurant insider" krappola. Oh, and if we learned that he'd also been participating in one of those "makeover" shows. Where'd he come up with that "look"?

Looks like I'm in the majority! I too am rooting for Guy & Andy & I love Reggie but not for a full show. Carissa & Nathen need to get a grip on their egos - way too full of themselves. I do think Andy would be great on a show like how to boil water! Andy & Jack would probably work out great together & let Tyler do what he does best.........more Food 911 & Tyler's Ultimants!
