Went yard saling today with sister and bought a Braun hand held blender with attachments (chopper, egg whipper) for $20.00. It has 6 speeds and is a beauty. I have wanted one for some time now and tickled pink that I found one at such a good price. Its brand new, probably only used once. It didn't come with a booklet though but there isn't much to figure out. I used it today to make the Mango Coconut Sorbet which by the way is delish. I also got a braun coffee grinder for $5.00...brand new also. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Just had to share my excitment with you guys because you all understand what joy we get when have a new toy to play with. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif My friends who are not foodies would just give me an exerted smile! Well poo on them! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Good for you, Mamasue! My hand held Braun has only one speed, no attachments, AND I paid more than you did, AND I did it at a 25 percent of sale. But still, I love that little overpriced toy. You're going to find a hundred uses for it probably this week. And with the summer coming on, it'll be perfect for making a tall, cool, smoothie.

Oops, I lied. My came with a plastic cup. Imagine that, one whole plastic cup, just for me.

Good find Mamasue! DH bought my Braun Hand Blender at a Yard Sale about 3 years ago, has one speed, no attachments and it suits me just fine! That little bad boy cost him only $5!!

One word of advice though...don't make the mistake I did and use it in your nonstick pans. (duh!) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Great find! I love garage sales...hard to motivate yourself to go alone though, and I just can't seem to find some of the bargains I could only a couple of years ago.

I've been lucky enough to stumble upon some great finds still though: I got the braun hand held thing too (without any attachments including the container), but it was only 50cents and worked fine. I got an ugly but useable coffee grinder for free (Canadian dollars) and I got the complete first two years worth of Cook's Illustrated magazine for $4! I could probably sell each issue for that on e-bay. A couple of years ago I got a huge box of fund-raiser type cookbooks for $.25 a book. I paid $12.00 for a box to give you some idea of the amount of books I got.

I'd love to hear about other finds people have had.

Congratulations! What a good purchase. I have been wanting a hand-held blender -- I have used my Mom's and it is great.

Guess I'll share my exciting purchase also. I got MasterCook (CL version) yesterday! I am thrilled. It was $19.99 at Target and came with the one-year free subscription to CL (mine just ran out). I can't wait to get started. Gaye

I received a Braun hand-held for my birthday from my MIL and it is the best gift I have received in years. We have been making smoothies almost every day now and it is so easy to clean up after. Mine did come with attachments (wisk and chopper) but only one speed. Sue, when I saw your's came with 6-speeds my eyes bugged out ( http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif ) I definitely will have to upgrade some time in my future. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
