View Full Version : Austin Supper Club
Hi there. We're looking to join or start a South Austin supper club. We were involved in a great one in Lexington, Kentucky and really miss the experience.
We're very open to all sorts of ideas, so if you're interested, please let me know.
Fingers crossed :)

Hi Patt, my husband and I are interested as well. We've never participated in one before. We're in Cedar Park. Is that too far away?

Hi Amy,
Since we'd probably be alternating meeting at each others' homes, Cedar Park would be fine for us if Buda would be okay for you. Since we both work in different directions, weekends would be best for us, probably Saturday evenings or brunch on either day. What days were you hoping for?
I was really happy to get your email.

Hi Patt,
Thanks so much for responding. I didn't expect such a quick response. Thanks! I think Buda-Cedar Park might be too far for us right now. :(
I really hope you find some other South Austin folks.

Hi all - I'm a single gal but very interested in doing more cooking (and eating) and love the idea of a supper club. I'm in central Austin (near the Central Market up north). Does that work for the south Austin-ites? Let me know. Thanks.
Mary Lynn

To both of you: We're having a backyard casual potluck on Sunday, 5/28 , with BBQ chicken, BBQ veggies, Mango ice cream and watermelon margaritas - bring a contribution! Anytime after 3 PM. We'd love you to join us. Kids welcome.
Amy, I'm sorry Cedar Park is so far out from Buda, but if you get closer, please check in on us. The table always has room.
Mary Lynn, CM South is foodie-home turf, and only about 9miles from our place. Sounds like we're neighbors!! BTW, years ago, (more than I'll say in a BB posting) my folks named me Mary Lynne aand then stuck "Patricia" in front of it. It's not a usual combination. I'd love to talk to you further about a Supper Club!

Greetings!
I just moved here from SF to be closer to my Boyfriend and am looking to meet new people. I used to teach cooking classes and miss the fun of cooking with people. My boyfriend is a great eater...not the best cook:)
I live in North Austin but traveling to the south isn't a big deal. I just love that there isn't a lot of traffic here!
Is there room for one more?
-Emily
Hi Emily,
There's always room - at least as far as 'm concerned.
I'd love to get this going, even if we start small and grow from there. The Farmer's Markets are so inspiring, the new CL has a ton of great looking things and I'm eager to try them all. Where else will I have the excuse to make that Lime Chiffon Cake?
For all of you on this thread who are interested, send me an email and we can co-ordinate schedules.
:D

I just moved to Lake Travis and am in the process of bringing my family here from Michigan. My husband comes in January. I love to cook and be social and would like to meet new friends.
Lake Travis Move
Wow, Your family will definitely find winter different!. I'd love to have you join us, but you'd probably find it a bit of a drive. Besides checking with the Cedar Park post above, check back in this thread about a year ago. There is a Supper Club going on in the North North area of Austin, including some folks out in Lakeway.
Welcome to Austin!!
Patt

Ooops, my goof. Check back on the BB for Austin Supper Club about a year ago - not this thread. Sorry.
If that doesn't work and you do want to come down this far South, give a holler - or an email!

Love Austin because the people are so darn friendly! Buda seems a little far to drive alone, but when my husband comes I would like to touch base with you again please.
Cancan, that sounds great. We did something similar when we moved. I came out first for a few months and them my husband and the critters joined us later. We'll look forward to it later on.

Hello,
I'm actually in Arlington, Virginia right now, but my husband and I will be moving to Austin (also central Austin, a mile or 2 north of the UT campus) in July, and we'd be interested in joining a supper club. I was in short-lived supper club a couple years back and would love to try again, and to meet some new people in the Austin area. I'm not entirely sure where Buda is, but definately would be willing to find out you have room for more...
Erin
Erin,
We may be slow getting off the ground, but I think we're getting some interest for this to happen. Welcome to Austin and I'm looking forward to meeting you. Holler when you get to town.
The latest CL has some great recipes and I just got the new Bon Appetit. Is anyone interested in just getting together for a brunch in a couple of weekends? We could talk about what we want for future meetings and just see how it all works out?
Patt
My husband and I are interested in a Supper Club and we are in the Lake Travis area. Cancan or others, please email me at kkw@zeecon.com! :)
Hi Everyone:
This is just to let any who have been on this thread know that we seem to have this Supper Club up and moving. We met, picked a theme, got a menu going and are looking forward to our first dinner. Instead of being geo-centric, we're scattered around the Austin area. The assumption is that some dinners will be in our backyard, some will require getting out and exploring more of this lovely area we live in.
For now, we'll take our communications off the board. Depending on time, energy and the volunteer of the month, we may post our dinner menus and appropriate oohs and aaaahs on the regular "Great Food" boards.
Bon Apetit, y' all.

Hi there - I was wondering if this supper club is still up and running? Is it full? My husband and I would love to join! Please let me know.
Thank you,
Audrey
Hi Audrey,
I got your note from the BB yesterday. I've sent out an email to the other members of the Supper Club to discuss adding new members. We grew quickly but haven't discussed adding new people yet. I apologize for not having an answer, but I expect to get back to you in a day or so. Hope that works for you. :)

Hi Audrey,
I've spoken to our other members and we are very definitely open to new people. Would you like meet? I could let you know what we've done so far and where we seem to be going as a supper club. I live in Buda and work downtown, so I'd be very open to meeting you any evening after work? Would that be okay? You could email me directly. :)
