Dallas was 101 degrees today. The energy usage was so high the Electric Company put rolling blackouts into place. More of the same expected tomorrow. Give me a break...it's only April!

Count me OUT.

Besides a very brief hail storm Sunday our rains are on leave, with temps around 60F I guess, with blue skies. Supposed to rain again at the end of the week, but that's fine by me. I don't want triple digits in August, much less April. Yikes!

That is way too hot for me! It was 84 on Friday. Beautiful weather for me,only to go down hill by Sunday. Cool today but sunny.

Today is going to be the hottest day so far, and I have recess duty at 2:00 on a playground with very little shade. I'm not looking forward to it.

I feel for you Jazz, at least no one is making me go outside in this inferno! Maybe the "powers that be" will take pity on you and recess can be inside today. Just imagine what the summer holds for us.

Yearning for summer? Not me, that's for sure. I know I'll be complaining as soon as the first seriously hot day happens and I certainly don't envy you all going through this now. Besides, there is no more beautiful time of the year than we're going through right now, with the first brilliant greens, budding trees and blossoms everywhere, and tons and tons of forsythia at every turn!

Linda -- My sympathies. Early hot weather is very discouraging!

Canice -- I'm interested that you got only a brief hailstorm on Sunday. It snowed all day here and we shoveled/blew 15 inches on Monday! It's been pretty the last two days though.

Yep, in the 90s here, and we had a late freeze last month. Very strange weather patterns this spring.

We might be moving to Austin this summer...what are we getting ourselves into??

I do love warm weather, but 100 in April sounds really extreme! Maybe this is the big heatwave of the year & it will be in the beautiful & balmy 80's all summer :) . We're having our first warm weather in way too long & it has me feeling optimistic!

It was 100 in Austin yesterday and I've not watched today's weather but can tell you it was 75 at 7:30 this morning...we just want rain! :o And you really don't want to set yourself up for thinking it's going to be anywhere near the 80's on any given day during the summer (after 9am anyway)! :p

Only rare days will be 80s in the summer -- and likely only if raining.

This is record level heat and well above normal (10-12 degrees on average). We had near record cool weather a few weeks ago. But that's Texas weather -- always subject to change! :D

Beth is right....in Houston, the only time you can count what the weather man is saying as fact is when he's reporting what happened yesterday...because in Houston if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it'll change!!!

I was disheartened by the 94 degree heat today...as a sales rep, I'm in and out of my car all day and I was not ready to get into a 125 degree car yet!!! Egads....I guess the blessing is that it's not horribly humid right now!

On the flip side....the Astro's have been fooled by the heat, think it's later in the summer and are playing great as a result! :D Go 'Stros!

My mom lived near Austin for 4 years, and when she left in February she had been complaining about the heat for nearly a year. Well, nearly FOUR years, but there had been a couple of short breaks in between.
Of course, 3 days after touching down in San Francisco she began complaining about the rain! (I told her to pipe down, or I'd send her back to tend her little Fire Ant farm, under the watchful eye of the brown fiddler.)

DBF called me from the runway in Austin on Monday evening, positively GLOATING about the hot weather. It was bright blue skies and low 70s here today, which is fine by me -- he can have his triple digits, and gloat away!

dearamy,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings! Unfortunately, I'm afraid the only balmy 80's are going to be before sunrise, in Austin, in the summer. However, Austin is a fabulous city so don't let the weather deter you. You'll just learn to acclimate and b*tch like the rest of us! :p

I'd do a lot for some hot weather! It hit 70 here yesterday, and people are alerady complaining.

90 and above baby - that's my kind of weather. :) Deck chair, cool crisp G&T, and tanning in the sun.

I love hot weather.
