Is it my imagination, or are there a lot of "faces" missing from the BB lately? Is it because kids are out of school now? Or does everyone just have more of a life than I do?

Come to think of it, I've been missing LGBurns...

I've noticed that there are a lot less posts these days than a few months back. I thought maybe it had to do with the frustrations of the BB at first, but now I am not so sure. The kids being out of school definitely makes a difference in my visits here. Some people might be on vacation, others just busy with other things. I guess we all have our reasons.

Not that I post THAT much, but I've been MIA due to a move and an archaeology field school. Just wanted to reassure everyone that I don't really have a life, it just looks that way right now.

I've spent less time on the boards this week and last, mostly because I get frustrated with how slow it's running, how it's always down, etc. But I have noticed since I've been back on regularly in the last couple of days that there are a whole lot less posts than usual. I hope people aren't jumping ship! What else would I do at work all day? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

JHolcomb, that's too funny! Is that why I've been in lurk mode lately? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Another MIA checking in...

In case Sneezles was one of the people you were missing, she made a rather dramatic departure a few days ago... You could probably scroll back for the posting.
I wouldn't count as a "heavy poster" but tend not to cook as much in hot weather. It saps all ambition out of me...
I was doing a search the other day and was also suddenly aware that LGBurns had not posted in awhile. LGBurns are you there???
Makes me wonder- would anyone notice if I didn't post for awhile??? (am I needy or what!!)

I must admit that I'm one who lurks around the edges of the BB most of the time anyways. But I know school coming to an end has an effect on the amount of time I spend on the computer. When I finish report cards, I don't even want to look at a screen if I don't have to!!

LG Burns is a student so maybe she was wrapped up in finals and maybe will come back when they are over. I miss her insights.

I've been missing in action! My company had a major lay-off last week, and my entire department was let go. Been working on reading the severance package, talking with outplacement consultants, talking with other employees and ex-employees . . .
Cooking has not been a major priority. Even before the lay-off, everyone was waiting for the bomb to drop, so I wasn't around (the BB)much. As the dust settles, I hope to come back! And now some shameless self-promotion (for the first and last time): If anyone needs a medical writer/editor with 13 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry; experience with scientific, promotional, regulatory and training communications; and a Master's degree in biology, let me know!
HUNGRY!

Good luck Barbara L, I'm sure you'll find something soon.

As we all know who try to plan meetings, dinners, etc. for friends, work, church, school, whatever, summer is just a crazy time for a lot of people. Hopefully, most of it is fun crazy. I know our family tends to spend more time outside than in (by the computer) between my daughter being home, working in the garden, the pool, going to the beach and the playground, etc. There are vacations and working people are working harder filling in while others are on vacation, etc. Of course, with Alison coming through, we have been home bound here the last couple of days, but otherwise, I feel I have barely done more than check in to the Board lately. It is pouring outside now and my daughter is napping, so I got a rare opportunity to check by and respond. I am guessing a lot of people are like me, just busier, although I am sure on a wide variety of different things!

BarbaraL-
Now might be a good time to update your profile and add your email address.
You might want to check out the AMA's website. They have offices in NJ.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!
Barbara-Best of luck to you. I've dealt with many pharmaceutical firms, and they seem to be located in NJ quite often, so I hope everything turns out well for you, and you find something quickly!
I haven't been posting much lately because it's just too darn hot and humid to cook, so I don't have any reviews, etc., to contribute. Even making a salad takes too much energy! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Thanks, Hungry!, Kelli and SueK for your kind words and encouragement. Thanks for the suggestion; I've updated my profile (barbliptak@aol.com). I'm sure something will come along soon. And it's summer -- the best time to be home! Once the dust settles, I'll have to get caught up with new CL dishes.

I haven't been posting much since early spring because I'm too busy with the yard and outside activities. I do check in 3-4 times a week just to see what's going on.I also don't tend to cook as much when the weather is warm. (or hot as it is this week)
I do miss the BB but for some reason there just isn't enough time in the day anymore. I wonder why that is !?!

There are sooo many new "faces" on the BB in the past few months that I'm quite sure I haven't been missed!! I do check in and lurk around almost daily but I tend to post in spurts(a word?). Also having figured out how to use the search section has answered most questions without the need to repeat posts.
I loved reading about the CL weekend, sounds like so much fun. Congrats to all the new and soon to be moms!! And Sneezles...I definately missed something!?!
Yes...still hopelessly addicted http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif LOL

Nice to hear from you oldtimers!!I think I speak for alot of us when I say that we do notice your absence. Its nice when you check in every once and awhile. For us, daily or almost daily poster we end up getting quite codependent.
Hey wouldn't this make a great Oprah topic- CLBB addiction. What would Dr. Phil say?? BTW and totally off topic am I the only one who is driven crazy by his know it all attitude?

Kima, I have to admit that I love Dr. Phil. He does kind of act like a know it all, but I think he's usually right so it doesn't bother me. BTW, I'm not a heavy poster either, but I read lots! I haven't been posting much because our budget it so low with the new house we're remodelling that I'm eating food storage - beans, tomatoes, and pineapple! I haven't had money for a lot of fresh ingredients. Anyone want to buy a house??? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Hey no problem JulieAnn. Its not like I really hate the guy- just sometimes he comes off a little holier than thou if you know what I mean. I am always suspicious of people who have a pat answer for everything. To each his own. Hope your new house is coming together- I've been there a few times!!

Wow. It's nice to be missed. I've actually been around but posting less. They're actually giving me work to do at work,(the nerve!), and with the nice weather I haven't been inclined to sit at the computer at home. It's funny 'cuz just the other day I was thinking the same thing kima stated--wondering if I'd be missed if I didn't post as much. I know, needy--but like I said, it's nice to be missed (although I'm wondering if it's more a sign of being a blabber mouth than anything else http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif ).
Nice to hear from you LG!! Check in now and again ya hear?? (I tell my daughters the same thing!!!)

I don't post too frequently either, But I have been around less as I am finishing up my masters degree, moving from Colorado to Boston(hopefully), AND I am pregnant (for the first time). So, lots of things to think about.
But, I do love checking in periodically and looking at review, suggestions, and just the friendly chatter.
I could be wrong but hasn't it been awhile since Lorilei has posted?? Are you there Lori???
Lori hasn't abandoned us; she's just been REALLY BUSY at work (which is where she does all her posting.) I'll make sure she sees your message, though...
Thanks Gail. Glad to know she is fine. Hope she is able to slow down and chat awhile real soon! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

BarbaraL, I heard a career counselor on the radio a few days ago and he said that Bio Tech is a very hot field to get into for the future because all the dicoveries in the area of DNA. Sounds like this is right up your alley. The guy I was listening to was Marty Nemko and he has a great book titled "Cool Careers For Dummies" check it out. I hope you see this!!

kima - Yes, I am indeed still here, but have been /swamped/ with work. I'm hoping to be back up and running in the next couple of weeks http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif In the meantime, it's lovely to be missed!
Thanks Gail -- for filling in for me!
