OK, I bought 3 lb at Trader Joe's, I don't know why. Can I substitute it for any regular long grain rice? Is it fragrant? What is the scoop? (I think that I can't use it to make risotto.) Must be rice impaired...

Ooh, Jasmine rice is wonderful -- it smells so beautiful, and as far as I know, you should be able to substitute it for other long-grain rices in most cases. You're right, though -- it definitely won't work for making risotto. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

OH, the smell is enouvh to make you never want to buy any other rice! It is so good with Indian food!
I use Jasmine and Basmati rice as my "regular" rice. And to think we grew up not even knowing how many different kinds of rice there were (I was explosed to wild and regular, either brown or white -- guess that beats only white).

And "only white" beats nothing but Minute Rice, which is all I grew up with. (Wow, I didn't know rice could smell GOOD when you cook it!)
