I'm hopelessly fashion impaired so I could use some opinions. Does this seem dressy enough to wear to a wedding? It's at the end of May in the northeast during the day. I don't know that it matters but the groom is my brother. I'm not involved in the wedding in any way (but do I need to be dressier just because I'm related?). He is wearing a blazer and khaki type pants so not super formal.

sorry, can't figure out how to show the picture but this is the link.

I like the dress. I would just keep in mind that as sister of the groom, you'll likely be in at least some photos, right? I would just make sure you like the dress well enough because it will become permanent through those photos, the albums, etc!

If the groom is wearing khakis and a blazer, then I think this dress would be fine.

I might dress it up with fancy shoes, jewelry and possibly a little jacket or shrug. May in the northeast might not be sundress warm. It is very pretty.

Hi Emilyn! This is a cute dress you found, however, IMHO - I would try to find something just a bit dressier or sophisticated even though it is a daytime wedding. (Unless it is an outdoor wedding? Some of this depends on the type of wedding they will be having).

It's hard to know what to recommend without knowing your style, but I found some pictures that show dresses that would be great for a daytime wedding. (Bloomingdale and Nordstrom websites). Dressy suits are always nice to wear too. The pix are just for an idea - some are very pricey!

Remember it all comes down to individual taste. Just because someone else likes a particular look doesn't mean it has to be what you should wear. If you like a dress, and feel comfortable and pretty in it, then that is the dress for you!

Also: I never go by what the guys wear to determine what I'll be wearing. My DH wears khakis to everything.

I think the dress you chose is appropriate based on the casualness of the wedding as a whole. The only thing I would mention is that I would try to dress in a color that "work" with what the wedding party is wearing, just for the photos aspects of the day. Otherwise - I'd go with it!

I do like the dress but I obviously have my doubts about it since I'm asking. Good point about the pictures.
Ok, how about this one? Dressier?

It has straps which I would use and probably need a jacket or sweater too.

So the ceremony is outside weather permitting but the rest is inside. Well, I think there are cocktails on the porch, it overlooks the ocean.

I love the second dress, I even commented on it in the store a couple of weeks ago. I think that dress with a shrug and some jewelrey will be perfect!

The second dress is much better. The first was too casual.

Enjoy the wedding!

thanks! I'll go with that one. Black shrug? or pick out one of the colors in it? That might be harder to find though.

I am a big pashmina fan - a simple wrap in the lavender of the dress would be gorgeous, I think.

I would see what the Loft has because they might have a shrug in a coordinating color. I think that would look nice because its so hard to match blacks but black would be fine too.
