Has anybody out there upgraded from MasterCook 3.0 (from about three years ago)to a newer version? I'd like to know 1) if the increased functionality is worth the effort and investment and 2) if my existing recipes will automatically be updated to work in the new version. Thanks for any advice!

Nancy, up until last summer or so, I had Mastercook 2.0 or 3.0. It was at least 3 years old, and I hardly used it. I would say that the import assistant alone would be worth the upgrade. I have added so many recipes now and use it all the time. That feature apparently came at the 5.o level, and the 6.0 has a faster search engine. The other differences are mainly on the recipes or cookboooks included, so you would pick up some new ones (the old ones can be caried forward).

Nancy -- I'd say go for it! I had version 4.0 and upgraded to 5.0, then later upgraded to 6.0. All the recipes came through from version 4.0 without a problem, although I'm pretty sure you get the same recipes with the newer versions, just in differently named cookbooks. The graphical interface for 5 and 6 is so much better than the older versions, and the Import Assistant is wonderful! I upgraded to 6.0 because I found a copy for only $20 that included a year of CL. Searching is much faster with 6.0 -- I thought it was well worth it.
