Good morning! Everybody must already be celebrating Cinco de Mayo and forgot to invite me ;) :)

Not much happening around here. I'm still on the bench at full salary (I could get use to this :D ). Rumor is that my previous client is approving a big project that might start in June...does this mean I have at least another month on the bench?

Looks like we are never going to get spring here. Had a few days of beautiful summer-like weather (high 80's) and for the last few days we are having morning fog and highs in the low 70's. I just want a few days of nice, warm, sunny weather.

Hey Tyra, No Cinco de Mayo celebrations here, just trying to catch up on some work.

I am glad you are still on the "bench." That would be awesome if you could stay this way and get hired back for the old client. It would certainly help with the transportation issues for the boys.

No big plans here this weekend. The kids are going up to their dad's house tomorrow and I might try to finish the 10% left I have in organizing the garage. I got rid of a ton of stuff last weekend.

DS has a swim-a-thon tomorrow from 6-8 a.m., but other than that, nada.

I hear you on the weather. It is unseasonably cool (mid 40s yesterday) and grey. I want my 70 degree weather back.

Wow not much of a klatch today!

Tyra,
On the bench with a salary beats on the bench in the park... :p Hope you find out something soon.

I hear you both about the weather! One day it's Spring next it's Summer and the next it's cloudy and humid though today seems really nice after last night's thunderstorm (and lately it only seems to rain at night...not a bad thing mind you).

I have spent the past 3 days waiting on an overnight delivery of my new Visa. My bank blocked my Visa because they thought the number had been compromised (a bunch of numbers had been but they weren't sure how or which ones) but I was never notified. Called and complained, had to verify recent purchases, mother's maiden name, etc and the new card was to be overnighted to me Wed morning. Spent the entire day waiting, figuring overnight might take a bit longer to reach Podunk. Still no card by 10am thursday, call the bank...high traffic in the fraud dept will call back within 2 hours...4r hours later I call again...same message-will receive call back within 2 hours   ...1 hr and 45 minutes later get call and find out card was overnighted to old address (where I haven't lived for 7 years and somebody signed for it)    So I sit here today still waiting for the overnight delivery guy to show up and it's past noon...Do I call and complain some more? I really need my shower but nobody else is here and you know he'll show up and soon as I lather up the shampoo!

Other than that saga, we have the VFD's dinner/dance/auction tomorrow that I need to finish the 2 cakes I made (need to go to the store with my Visa to buy remaining ingredients I forgot :o )...

How aggravating! It amazes me how the company can have your address for the bill...but not to actually get you the replacement card. I had a similiar issue with GE Money Bank and The Men's Wearhouse where my address was only partially updated. Screwed up my credit report and took a few months (and a nasty letter to both companies) to get it straightened out.

I would just like to know what the my company has in mind for me. Its isolating being at home and not having any contact from anybody (mind you...not much different then being at the client site). But...I'm enjoying being at home. Would be nice to take a vacation or something, but without knowing what lies ahead, I can't spend the money PLUS the boys are still in school.

Our mailing address is different, it's a p o box, but it's certainly not the same city as where they overnighted the card. I just wish the girl had verified the physical address on tuesday. but this does explain why some of my internet purchases had been denied the past few years.

I fully understand the isolation you're feeling though I'm sure you're getting all caught up on Spring cleaning! ;) All those closests organized? ;)

Thanks for the nudge, I've done some closets...and then I get bored. I just switched my closet around and got rid of some shirts that I didn't wear last winter at all.

Actually the first week corresponded to spring break so the boys were home with me. Second/third week...I became a lady who lunched ;) This week has been more boring. I keep thinking I should go and weed the backyard, but for some reason it doesn't sound that appealing :D

I also started cooking for a friend and her dad. I bring them between 3 - 5 things a week and they are paying me $100 for each person plus the cost of groceries. Can't make a living at this...but it helps fill the time and will come in handy if I go on unemployment.

Tyra, are you not looking until you hear officially from your company? The cooking job sounds like a good way to fill the void.

Susan, I would be ticked about the entire Visa issue. I would have made more than one complaint call by now (but then again, I am not very patient).

I should work on some closets this weekend as well. As much I as hate spring cleaning, I do love the way it feels after I have purged myself of so much junk.

I just remembered that DD has a track meet this afternoon. I wish she didn't as it is just nasty outside. Guess I should get back to work while I can.

No, I'm actively looking in the meantime. I have my resume out on DICE and have checked a few other boards as well. Since I'm 'machine dependent' it sometimes takes awhile. There were a couple of jobs that other people went to in March...but I didn't want to leave the client until I absolutely had to since my commute/flexible hours were so important to me. Once school is out, I'll have more flexibility since the boys can take a public bus to/from the HS. With Alex in geometry at the HS and the Middle School for the rest of the day...I need to be available as transportation until then.

Laura - how is Paige doing in track? Michael's last meet was yesterday and while he didn't do as well as he would have liked, both the boys and girls teams were undeafted in their league. :)

Hi everyone! I can jump in here for a little bit then I have an offsite meeting then home for the weekend!

Andy got Erin and I Red Sox tickets last night from one of the bar regulars at his restaurant so it was a nice surprise to go to the game last night. It was 75 here yesterday and a perfect night! Because of everything being last-minute and my working in the city and Andy's working in the burbs with the tickets, he ended up picking Erin up from her work and driving her to the T (the subway)'s last stop on the Orange line and letting her take a few stops by herself to meet me at one of the other Orange line stops. That worked out fine - she felt really grown up (and now I've set a precedent! ) but the Orange line is all above ground so her cell phone worked the entire time and I was waiting on the platform and we just jumped back on the train.

Tomorrow Andy's brother is arriving from CA for a week to stay with us. That's not something I'm looking forward to but at least it's not his other brother who has never left the 60's and just keeps staying with friends!

Tyra - I can see where you're getting a bit bored but I honestly think I would love it! Especially at full pay!

Susan - there is no way I would not be calling the credit card company hourly at this point. This is a missing credit card right now. There's so many ways credit can be compromised that I'd be really upset that the company is doing it for you! I hope it all works out ok for you. How is the restaurant business that you're starting up coming along?

Laura - please keep your nasty weather! :D we finally hit 80 today and I can't wait to get outside!

Loren

Tyra, go attack those weeds! (Not like I would do it, though.)

Susan, how frustrating about the card! It always floors me that people can "steal" your unemployment by filing a change of address and then filing for unemployment. Then the EDD starts sending notices to you at your correct address that you are in trouble because you're still working. Didn't they notice it's a different address?

Loren, Erin must have felt very grown up to take the train by herself!

We finally got some sun today, after a week of early June gloom and previous rain. I hope it hangs on for the weekend. I'm stuck inside all day today.

Of course I plan to be inside at home, but at least there I can sit by the window. My plans for the weekend are to sew, sew, sew. I have an Erte design to make that's really simple, so I'm hoping to finish it, and I have a somewhat more complicated 30's day dress (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V2671=x&TI=20006&page=2) that I need to wear the first weekend in June. Given my track record of finishing things, I'm not confident in my ability to get it done, but I'm going to give it a try. I also need to work on a presentation I'm giving on fashion that weekend.

another uneventful weekend here too! we were going to go up to an alumni weekend with some old college friends of DF and that fell through. then, we were going to go out for mexican tonight for cinco de mayo, but he's stuck home with SEVERE allergy issues. so looks like i'm cookin' again tonight!

the good news is that a good friend of mine got a job in my office, and she's moving in with her BF (a few doors down from me!!) so we're going to carpool when she starts (may 15). YAY to saving money and the environment!!

i do have a logo to work on at home for a friend's IT consulting company...and maybe i'll finally get to make myself some summer clothes! i always have such good intentions with sewing...

sneezles's - we had credit card issues lately too, only ours was that someone used DF's BANK CARD on oldnavy.com to charge almost $900 of merchandise. they called us at home to verify our purchase, and that turned into a 2 hour long fiasco on the phone with them, the bank, etc. it got straightened out, and needless to say, we got a new card number. we don't even USE oldnavy.com.

hope you all have a great weekend!!

Hi All!

Well, its been an exhausting week for me and this is just a quick drop in. We had a tradeshow yesterday and it was a long day for me. My new job is great but its very challenging for me so that has been an adjustment. I was asleep by 8:30 last night and can't seem to wake myself up today. I'm just doing clean up work at this point so I don't do something stupid.

This weekend will be pretty quiet. Just the farmer's market tomorrow (I really need to remember to take my good knife to have it sharpened) and hopefully a bike ride both Saturday and Sunday. I have a lot of work to do so I'll be doing some of that this weekend. Other than that, just sleep.

Robyn (wishing there was a sleepy smiley...)

Colleen - cute dress but the pleats look like they would take some time (not like I can sew more then buttons and hems ;) )

Had lunch with some of the people from the client site. Yes, there is a big project but according to the manager, developers wouldn't be needed until September. Doubt I would be kept on the bench that long :D

I'm really not bored...getting a lot of errands done, catching up on reading, meeting friends for lunch, and shopping. Really need to go back to an office environment...this could get expensive quickly plus I'm forming all sorts of bad habits. Fortunately, I still need to wake up early to take the boys to school so my sleep habits aren't changing.

Loren - last year Alex started taking BART by himself home from camp. The director dropped him at the station and I would meet him at the other end. I made sure he had a phone as well. Worked well and it is nice to give them that independence

I did make a phone call to the bank and of course had to wait for them to call me back (finally gave up and got in the shower...of course that is when they called). It took this very irritating woman(I did not lay into her though it took all of my will power) 30 minutes to find the tracking number for UPS which showed it had arrived in Austin a 7:11am today. Unfortunately, it seems that living in Podunk voids the delivery by 10am, go figure! Seems it didn't even arrive in LaGrange until after 12noon! I am now in possession of it though and was even able to activate it without the pin...(which I lost years ago) and without drawing blood!

Loren,
Hope the visit with the BIL goes by quickly and painlessly...family, gotta endure them! ;)

Robyn,
Glad to hear you made it through the show, get some rest this weekend...how'd the hunt for black cloths go?

Collency,
Have fun sewing. I gave up on making clothes years ago but love to do craft-y sewing though at times I procrastinate for fear of messing it up. Easier now though since I have a better machine.

Hope everyone has a great weekend...I'm looking forwar to a glass of Merlot! :D
