My Mom has asked for a CD for Mother's Day. She has trouble sleeping and puts various CDs on when she goes to bed but is getting tired of the ones she has (most of which I made). I really need some help here as I have already used up my best ideas. I think I am going to Rhapsody to download unless you have other good suggestions there too.
Thanks for any and all help ;)

Pachelbel's Canon is one of my favorites, and very soothing.

Dave Koz's Golden Slumbers was designed to help babies fall asleep, but it's still a great album. Here's the link (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006785T/qid=1146940720/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-7559581-5699825?s=music&v=glance&n=5174) to it on Amazon.

Lifescape's World Flutes is peacefully relaxing...

Belleruth Naparstek has a wonderful, guided imagery cd promoting sound sleep. Her website also has an abundance of other relaxtion-related cds http://www.healthjourneys.com/

Best wishes, Kim

If she likes piano music, I LOVE David Lanz's "Nightfall" cd, or anything George Winston.

Thanks, everyone.....great ideas. Ralph I played the sampler on the Amazon website (thought I could listen while I work) and it nearly put me to sleep at my desk! Ditto the Nightfall album. I'm starting to feel like rubber.
Any other ideas still appreciated. I hope to give her several CDs.

Nancy, I have my iPod loaded with music and nature sounds to listen to before falling asleep. Here's a small sampling which I have found to be very helpful and most enjoyable. I've provided an Amazon link where possible. Sweet dreams to your mom...

I second George Winston. My favorite CD of his is December. I love the classic songs that have the ocean and nature sounds with them--my favorite is Pachabel's Canon with the ocean.

I have two of these CDs. Rob and I went to school with a few of these extremely talented people. Mark was one of my college art professors and Joanna graduated high school with me. Their CDs are beautiful. I haven't seen any of them in 10 years, and I get no profits at all from the sale of their music. I just think that their music might be new and different from what your mom has.

Some good suggestions. I don't know if you could still find it, but we had a CD that I think was titled "A Little Night Music" that we would play for the boys when they were little. It was soothing classical pieces, and they seemed to like it. Might be worth an internet search.

I have a CD, "Rachmaninoff for Romance" that has beautiful pieces on it and I use that when I can't sleep.

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I used to listen to a Kenny G CD to fall asleep! I also agree with the George Winston recommendations.

...maybe some sermon CD's, particularly old testament stuff. ;)
